A Tapestry of Menopause Among traditi...

KShs2,500.00
Menopause. This is not a word we often hear in everyday conversation. Many women are almost afraid of it, and men will hardly, if ever, speak it. It is a subject that we seldom discuss. Indeed, reference to a woman as menopausal is almost viewed as insulting; derogatory even. Yet, menopause is a biological reality, and the subject should therefore not evoke negative feelings or cause discomfort during conversation. It is a conversation that should be held freely and comfortably, by both men and women.
In this book, Wanjiru Kamau explores this uncomfortable yet critical subject by examining the perceptions of menopause among the traditional Agīküyü women. In the research, she records personal testimonies and lived experiences that offer reflections on the women's developmental stages from birth, menarche, menstruation, motherhood, and menopause, and their significance. In the process, she points the reader to the need for an examination of the subject among women. This book presents menopause among the traditional Agīküyü women as both biological and cultural, explaining how families and clans treated a girl at the onset of menarche and the different cultural responsibilities that women took up after menopause.
The testimonies given by my co-researchers - as Wanjiru prefers to call the women she interviewed - women who grew up without or with minimal influence of European education and Christianity, reveal a very different understanding and perception of women's bodies, sexuality, reproduction, and menopause from that of the Westernized woman in Kenya today. For comparison, the author shares her own journey from menarche to menopause, illustrating the negative perception of the process among educated and "Christianized" societies. That Wanjiru relies on oral testimonies as part of her research methodology is critical in demonstrating the place of oral history and tradition in knowledge production and transmission. The traditional woman was educated about her body and various developmental stages right from when she was a little girl. The society ensured that cultural education and indigenous knowledge on women's sexuality, reproduction, and self-care were passed on from generation to generation as the girls passed through the different rites.

Grounded in Scripture, this book challenges the culture of spectatorship and reminds us that ministry is not reserved for a select few—it is the responsibility of the whole Body of Christ. The Church was never meant to simply gather. It was commissioned to go.

From unpaid invoices to powerful influence, From Red to Green is a captivating journey of grit, growth, and game-changing sales wisdom. In this refreshingly honest and skillfully narrated book, Byron Osiro pulls back the curtain on the real world of sales, not the textbook version, but the one marked by betrayal, resilience, breakthroughs, and impact. Set against a uniquely African backdrop, this story moves beyond boardrooms and balance sheets into the heart of what truly drives results: relationships rooted in value. This book is not just about making sales; it is about making sense, building trust, and moving from transactional to transformational.

Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most. Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up — she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true. Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his "no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan — her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

Unplugged 6 – Find Your Ground

UNPLUGGED 6 Things Our Fathers Did NOT Tell Us FIND YOUR GROUND Nobody is coming to explain the rules. The school curriculum will not cover testosterone, frame control, or why boys who chase approval never earn respect. Your peers will not tell you that por nography is rewiring your brain, that your sleep is determining your hormone levels, or that the five men you spend most time with are shaping the man you will become. The internet will offer you a thousand voices — many of them angry, some of them useful, almost none of them trustworthy without a filter. This book gives you the filter. And the map. And the framework. Jacob Aliet’s FIND YOUR GROUND is a complete masculinity guide for young men between thirteen and twenty-four — written with biological precision, psychological depth, and the kind of honesty that most books for young men are too cautious to offer. Drawing on neuroscience, evolutionary psychology, African masculine tradition, and the hard-won wisdom of men who built something real, it covers everything your formation requires: the biology of puberty, the architecture of identity, the mechanics of attraction and status, the science of discipline and neuroplasticity, the practical skills of negotiation, finance and public presence, and the brotherhood that makes all of it sustainable. This is not a motivational book. It is an operational one. Whether you are navigating a fatherless household, a confusing school envi ronment, a digital world full of false maps, or simply the gap between who you are and who you suspect you could be — this book will give you language for that gap and a path across it. Find your ground. Hold it

A SEASON OF FOOLS BY CHARLES MWANGI

KShs1,000.00
Kenya. A beautiful country, but blessed with an endless supply of fools. This is a country where a man marries the most fertile woman in Africa and gets buried under a mountain of children; where a jackpot winner unwittingly plays God, a hustler fundraises for the burial of his amputated arm, and a special kind of coward offers up his family to save his own skin. Here, your neighbour openly prophesies your downfall, trees are mutineers, the dead are buried naked, and even the swindler gets swindled. A beautiful country all the same. But drunk and wobbling, where everyone must either hang on or fall off. A Season of Fools is a collection of satirical stories told by the fools themselves to other fools. Turn the pages, then, and meet your twin.

Some women think men only love big asses. Some men think the only way to attract is by splashing cash like candy to women. Men lie to maximise their mating chances, and women can no longer hide that they rarely love a man for who he is, but for what he offers. Broke men only stare from a distance and jerk off, while strangely enough, the most beautiful women are often the loneliest of all. It’s all messier than you think. Men and women misread each other because everyone is working with the wrong manual. With some of the most unpopular truths about men and women, this book will draw you in and hand you answers that are as disturbing as they are impossible to ignore.

The Origin of Luo Culture and Spiritu...

KShs1,200.00 KShs900.00
Title: Origin of Luo Culture and Spirituality Author: John Ming’ala Obure In his groundbreaking book “A History of the Luo Speaking Peoples of Eastern Africa,” Prof Bethwell A. Ogot traces the Luo’s history back to a place in South Sudan called Bahr El Ghazal and documents their migration pattern from South Sudan into several countries in the eastern Africa region. The book states that “colonialism re-wrote many of life rules,” which significantly changed our knowledge about our history and origin. Most of the changes were geographical; however, the most detrimental ones blurred our identity. As a result, these changes have significantly distorted the history of Africans in general and particularly the once-unified Luo-speaking people, who were ultimately divided. The Luo-speaking people are a monolithic group that has remained culturally distinct for centuries despite the split into various clans scattered across several countries in Eastern and Central Africa. Definitely the history of the Luo, their culture and belief system goes way back beyond Bahr-El-Ghazal in South Sudan. This book has managed to trace the genesis of the Luo people back to Noah’s time and for the first time the true identity of the people who has been known as the Nubians is revealed. The book has documented possible origins of most of the Luo cultural and spiritual practices we are familiar with today. The author has also relied on his own intuition and imagination to explain some of the fundamental gaps in understanding the spiritual relations between man and God of the Luo people. The book also explains many deep and complex concepts in the Luo spirituality such as the spiritual connections in common cultural practices such as marriage rites, feasting in burials, sex and marriage, life after death and the certain thing about the environment around us.

This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose and my strength, but also to finding my voice in a world that didn't always see me. As I wrote Finding Me, my eyes were open to the truth of how our stories are often not given close examination. They are bogarted, reinvented to fit into a crazy, competitive, judgmental world. So I wrote this for anyone who is searching for a way to understand and overcome a complicated past, let go of shame, and find acceptance. For anyone who needs reminding that a life worth living can only be born from radical honesty and the courage to shed facades and be...you. Finding Me is a deep reflection on my past and a promise for my future. My hope is that my story will inspire you to light up your own life with creative expression and rediscover who you were before the world put a label on you.
