This classic text is annotated to update Graham's timeless wisdom for today's market conditions... The greatest investment advisor of the twentieth century, Benjamin Graham, taught and inspired people worldwide. Graham's philosophy of "value investing" -- which shields investors from substantial error and teaches them to develop long-term strategies -- has made The Intelligent Investor the stock market bible ever since its original publication in 1949. Over the years, market developments have proven the wisdom of Graham's strategies. While preserving the integrity of Graham's original text, this revised edition includes updated commentary by noted financial journalist Jason Zweig, whose perspective incorporates the realities of today's market, draws parallels between Graham's examples and today's financial headlines, and gives readers a more thorough understanding of how to apply Graham's principles. Vital and indispensable, this Harper Business Essentials edition of The Intelligent Investor is the most important book you will ever read on how to reach your financial goals.

This text, the follow-up to Rich Dad, Poor Dad reveals why some people work less, earn more, pay less in taxes, and feel more financially secure than others. The author argues that it is simply a matter of knowing which quadrant to work from and when. Have you ever wondered: What is the difference between an employee and a business owner?; Why do some investors make money with little risk while most other investors just break even?; Why do most employees go from job to job while others quit their jobs and go on to build business empires?; Why, in the Industrial Age, did most parents want their children to become medical doctors, accountants, or attorneys. and why, in the Information Age, are these professions under financial attack?

Creative Cash Flow: Mastering Money, ...

In the past few years, institutions have committed billions of dollars to the African creative sector. Meanwhile, entrepreneurs have built real, profitable companies. But both sides can't find each other. Part of the reason is language. Creative founders speak Creativish when investors expect Financialese. The frameworks financiers use to evaluate businesses were never designed with the African creative economy in mind, and founders were never given the translation guide. Until now. Creative Cash Flow gives African creative entrepreneurs and operators the tools to master revenue models, manage cash in volatile markets, monetize their intellectual property, raise the right kind of capital, and build businesses that last. It is written for the realities of African markets, grounded in real-life examples and case studies from across the continent. This is not a book about inspiration. It is a book about execution, written by someone who has sat on both sides of the table. Marie Lora-Mungai occupies a rare position at the intersection of the African creative industries and the world of finance. Over 20 years and across 27 African countries, she has built creative companies, raised money for her own ventures, and gone on to shape how some of the world's largest development finance institutions think about investing in African creative businesses. She is the founder of Restless Global, a creative economy advisory firm, and the author of the popular newsletter HUSTLE & FLOW. Creative Cash Flow is the book she wishes she had when she started.

Rebel: The Life and Times of a Uganda...

KShs2,000.00

Rebel: The Life and Times of a Ugandan Activist is a bold, heartfelt memoir by Anne Mugisha—lawyer, mother, and political reformist—whose remarkable life captures Uganda’s turbulent search for freedom and justice. Told with humor, honesty, and courage, it is a deeply human story about standing up to power, surviving exile, and finding hope in defiance.

Born in Mbarara, western Uganda, Anne grew up in a loving but traditional family during the upheavals of Idi Amin’s dictatorship. Her father’s quiet resistance and her mother’s stoic faith shaped her earliest ideas about justice, truth, and courage. Even as a child, she was outspoken and restless, questioning cultural rules that silenced girls. That independent streak, often punished, became the foundation of the rebel she would later become.

A gifted student, Anne excelled through Uganda’s best schools and earned degrees in law from Makerere University and the London School of Economics. Her career began in Uganda’s Foreign Service, where she represented her country at the United Nations in New York. Yet beneath the diplomatic polish, her conscience stirred. Serving a government that suppressed democracy and dissent clashed with her values. Eventually, she resigned—leaving behind prestige and comfort to join Uganda’s growing political opposition.

By 2000, Anne was among the founding members of the Reform Agenda, led by Dr. Kizza Besigye. It was a daring move that placed her in direct conflict with President Yoweri Museveni’s regime. The 2001 elections brought arrests, intimidation, and violence. Anne, like many activists, became a target and was forced into exile. Leaving her young daughters behind was the most painful decision of her life—but it saved her freedom and, perhaps, her life.

In the United States, Anne began again from nothing. Her asylum hearing, described with gripping detail, captures the vulnerability of a woman stripped of status but not of conviction. When the immigration officer granted her protection, it was more than paperwork—it was validation of her truth. As a single mother, she juggled parenting with advocacy, finding strength in the community of women and exiles who, like her, refused to be broken.

Her activism evolved into global work with the Women’s Learning Partnership, linking her to a network of feminists from Africa, the Middle East, and beyond. Later, through her service with the United Nations in Somalia and other fragile states, she witnessed the same struggles for dignity and democracy that had shaped her own homeland.

Yet Rebel is more than a political memoir—it is a deeply personal reflection on love, loss, and resilience. Anne writes candidly about heartbreak, betrayal, and the loneliness of leadership. She also writes with humor about her missteps, and tenderness about her daughters who gave her reason to keep fighting. Her storytelling is sharp and self-aware, balancing activism with introspection, and conviction with compassion.

Returning to Uganda years later, Anne found a country still marked by corruption and repression—but she also found her voice stronger than ever. She ran for parliament and continued to believe that rebellion is not a phase but a way of living with integrity.

Written with clarity and warmth, Rebel will resonate with readers of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Wangari Maathai, and Malala Yousafzai—stories of women who turn defiance into hope.

Ultimately, Rebel is Anne Mugisha’s love letter to Uganda and to everyone who has dared to speak truth to power. It reminds us that rebellion, at its heart, is not about anger—it is about love: love of justice, of freedom, and of the courage to tell one’s own story.

How To Make This Boy Go Home With Me ...

KShs700.00 KShs650.00
How To Make This Boy Go Home With Me is a witty “manual” for love, lust, and longing in your twenties. Told as a step-by-step guide, it follows one girl’s night out as she plots, schemes, and performs her way into the attention of her longtime crush. But beneath the red dress, the lipstick, and the perfectly timed jokes lies the tender ache of wanting to be wanted; the longing not just to be seen, but to be chosen. It is a story that is both funny and vulnerable, exposing the theatrics of seduction in a messy hilarity of trying to script desire.

The Windmill Dance by NEVILLE OTUKI

KShs1,500.00 KShs1,200.00
The other day, a Kenyan parent poured out her frustration on social media after her eight-year-old daughter, ever so curious, put her on the spot. Turns out the girl, presumably like many others, has lately been hearing a lot about climate change stories in which wind power was a recurring motif. Glancing up at her mother, bright-eyed, the girl expectantly waited for a response to her question: "What’s up with wind power?" She frantically searched her mind. Nothing! After a minute or so, the young girl gave up and might have blown a raspberry, disappointed. Perhaps embarrassed on her mother’s behalf. The Windmill Dance, penned through the eyes of a high school student Paul and his friends Manu and Pele, creatively brings to light the topic of energy, particularly offering readers a front-row seat to wind and solar power. It also reveals the links between energy generation and the environment, and the negative impacts of climate change. The world is currently staring down the barrel of a climate crisis with cases of floods and drought on the rise, explaining why climate change news is all the rage lately. All is not lost, though. Wind and solar power, considered to be green energy sources, are part of the solution, promising mankind a way out of the looming danger. This is a book for the young and old alike because one way or another, the climate reality will catch up with us all. Oh, for the mother above, and other parents like her, the story would be different had she had this book in her hands and those of her young ones. The book also celebrates innovation among the young, demonstrated through a National Junior Innovation Contest in which Paul and his friends participate. They build a windmill prototype which makes them shine at the contest, earning them a tour of a mega windmill farm and an audience with the President!

Footprints in the Sand by Stanley Gaz...

A train is huffing and puffing across the Kenyan landscape. It looks like something out of the early colonial era, but inside it is fitted with everything a modern passenger could wish for. Aboard are people from all corners of the nation and walks of life. They have traversed radically different paths to get here: worked in the gloomy warehouses of Nairobi’s industrial districts, made drug deals in the foothills of the country’s mountains, migrated from their upcountry villages to the city. Their stories are entangled with those of the people who were not fortunate enough to win a ticket – mothers and fathers, street hustlers and gangsters, generous strangers and mysterious lovers. Footprints in Sand is a story of Kenya at the turn of the millennium, about crime and corruption, hope and ambition, pasts that its people try to leave behind and the future for which they wait. This novel, long in the making, is a modern Kenyan epic that travels along forking paths and between genres and modes of storytelling. It is an indictment of postcolonial greed, a crime novel without a villain and a fairy-tale about enchanted objects and dangerous encounters.

A Marriage of Dolls is a hilarious account of events that happen in most families and marriages. The novel points out various challenges faced by both men and women when choosing a life partner and humorously shows ups and downs in new marriages before the couple finally understands each other and learns to live together and solve their issues amicably. The book also explores various cultural practices, beliefs and values among the Ameru, Luhya, Akamba, Maa and Agikuyu. A Marriage of Dolls is the second part of Torn Between, which is the author’s first book.
