The author calls for a collective African integration in the region in particular and in Africa in general arguing that Moroccans themselves are able to find a solution to their internal issues since separatism and separation do not defend the interests of Africa as unified content in terms of culture and customs in spite of its ethnic and linguistic diversity. In his opinion , unity and integration are the soft arms to face any outside threat. his presentation demonstrated a Sahara region that has seen socio-economic development due the efforts made by the Moroccan government. He portrays the Moroccan King as a Great leader who has good intention in his quest to keep deploying boundless material and moral efforts to make the Sahara region a hub for development and investments. He describes the Sahara as a region that boasts of all the living conditions in contradiction to what people are portraying and commercializing on social networks. the historian further called for an effective and constructive dialogue among all Moroccans based on common interests in order to put an end to the long- term conflict taking into consideration the efforts made by the United nations and the African union .

A People Called the Agikuyu: Yesterda...

A People Called the Agikuyu: Yesterday and Today … and Tomorrow? Around A.D. 1000, a community of Bantu-Thagicu speakers left their Nyambene Hills area settlement in Igembe-Tigania, in present-day Meru country in central-eastern Kenya, in search of new homes. By A.D. 1400, this community had split into distinct, but closely related, Thagicu-speaking groups occupying a region running from Meru, through Embu and Kirinyaga to Murang’a. These groups were – from north to south – the Tharaka, Cuka, Embu, Mbeere, Gicugu, Ndia, and the Agikuyu. Gikuyu national consciousness goes back to the early 1400s. In the next 400 years, the Agikuyu would expand into Nyeri, Kiambu and parts of Nyandarwa – to occupy the land between the Four Mountains, namely Kirinyaga (Mount Kenya), Kia-Nyandarwa (the Nyandarwa Range), Kia-Njahi (Kilimambogo), and Kia-Mbiruiru (Ngong Hills). The British settler-colonialists, as they penetrated the interior of Kenya in the late 19th century, encountered the Agikuyu building fortified villages on the outskirts of the area that would grow into Nairobi. on the southern frontier – and stopped Gikuyu expansion in its tracks. What followed was the brutal and tragic drama of a war of conquest and inevitable resistance. The resistance was suppressed. But within the ensuing half century, the Mau Mau war of liberation would break out, and the Agikuyu and their Thagicu (now GEMA) cousins would suffer ruthless suppression by the mighty British Empire. This is the story of the Agikuyu, from their beginnings, through their encounter with foreign white rule, their contribution to Kenya’s liberation, and their mixed fortunes since Kenya’s national independence – what with their remarkable contribution to nation-building and economic development, but also their tragic experiences, including attempts at ethnic cleansing targeting them, their GEMA brothers and sisters and other communities in the 1990s, and also, most painfully, in 2007-8. The story is set against the historical background of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, the Scramble for and Partition of Africa, the struggles for the self-determination of African nation-states, as well as nation building in a brutal Globalized ‘New World Order” under the control of the Imperialist Western powers, The author, Paul Ngige Njoroge, studied literature at Makerere and Nairobi Universities. He has worked as a teacher and a book-publishing editor.

Three of the playwrights most iconic works are illuminated through the lense of African culture with particular emphasis on the norms, values and world views of the Luo People. A bridge between worlds which begins with the characters, the voices that drive the drama, a clear and concise retelling of the story using the play's key moments, a short historical context and most crucially an illumination of African traditions, using the rich cultural lense of the Luo people in contrast to the events at play in Shakespeare's writing.

KShs1,500.00 KShs1,300.00
In the Hands of a Poet is a journey through the thoughts, emotions, and fleeting moments that make up our lives. These poems reach into themes of love, loss, faith, humor, reflection, and the quiet in-between spaces we often overlook. Some pieces ask questions, others offer warmth, and a few may sit with you long after you turn the page. The verses in this collection explore what it means to feel deeply and to find meaning in the mundane. You’ll find poems that echo spiritual longing and others that laugh at life’s little ironies. There are verses about friendship, family, heartbreak, identity, and the slow unfolding of self-awareness. Some celebrate, some mourn, and some simply observe. The language is honest, sometimes playful, sometimes solemn—but always intent on making a connection. These poems do not demand agreement or perfect understanding. Instead, they offer space: space to feel, to question, to remember, or to simply be.

TURKANA PROVERBS, WISE SAYINGS AND ID...

KShs3,500.00
African scholars are being called upon to write, recover and preserve the African past which was for a long time dominated by foreign scholars who wrote about the continent selectively. This book, Turkana Proverbs, Wise Sayings and Idioms, stands as a pivotal initiative amidst a collective effort by Turkana literary scholars to propel the preservation, exploration, and promotion of intangible cultural heritage of the Turkana people. Within the Turkana community, knowledge is traditionally transmitted through oral literature. Proverbs, wise sayings and Idioms, serving as conduits of amassed cultural wisdom and life experiences, offer invaluable insights into human behaviors, addressing aspects like greed, ignorance, procrastination, and susceptibility to deception. Regrettably, these proverbs, wise sayings and idioms, a treasured heritage of the Turkana people, face the threat of extinction due to the burgeoning influence of Western education and the encroachment of external cultures. The book is based on field research and experiential views of the author who was born and has lived in the community. Readers from all disciplines will find the book useful. Areas studies, especially on Africa, and all related disciplines will find the book relevant.
