The Gen Z Manifesto by Chris Njehu

Ever wonder what Kenya’s future would look like if the Gen Z movement could crystallise into an ideology pursued at the ballot? Could Kenya be where the Asian Tigers were in the 1960s, before they achieved their economic miracle? The Gen Z Manifesto takes a bold stab at answering these questions. Grounded in history, the book examines the forces that have shaped Africa’s past and draws lessons from ancient civilisations, including Kemet (Ancient Egypt), Mesopotamia, the Han Chinese Empire and the Mali Empire. It then turns to the Asian Tigers and other high-performing Asian economies to explore the policies and conditions behind their remarkable transformation. But The Gen Z Manifesto is more than an economic blueprint. It argues that strong families are the foundation of a strong society and calls for renewed efforts to create environments in which children can thrive under the guidance of both parents. At its political heart, the book revisits the birthplace of democracy in ancient Athens, where citizens gathered in the Agora to deliberate on matters affecting their society. Inspired by this tradition, it calls on Kenya’s Gen Z and Millennials to establish Citizens’ Deliberation Councils across the country—spaces where citizens can collectively shape Kenya’s social, political and economic agenda through consensus.

This book is part of that moment. It is not an attack on any individual. It is a call to conscience. It is an invitation to leadership to listen.

Tumetenga ( We have Set Aside :-Fake Chronicles) Poetry as a Weapon. Poetry as Witness. Poetry as Survival. Poetry as vision for Africa's political salvation. In this landmark anthology, over fifty poets from across Africa—including Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Cameroon, and Zimbabwe—bear witness to a continent at a crossroads. With unflinching honesty and breathtaking artistry, they expose electoral betrayal, dictatorship, corruption, police brutality, abduction, and the quiet suffocation of dissent. But these poems do not stop at despair. They envision Pan-African unity. They demand accountability. They insist on the possibility of a new dawn. "If Africa was waiting for an anthology to speak to her politics and governance, this is it." — Prof. PLO Lumumba "Power doesn't retire. It just rebrands." — Joy Achungo, "Wanjiku, I Am Not a Thief" "Our blood is the tax for being alive." — Ruth Jepkorir Koech, "We Want to Live" "This is not poetry—this is a test of your patience and courage." — Bonface Otieno Okinyi, "What Was Your Reason, Gen Z?" In the shadows of a city built on sweet and silence, the factory gates become battlegrounds and the slums echo with the heartbeat of resistance. When workers refuse to bow to exploitation, a storm of courage, betrayal, and hope unfolds. Fire in the Factory; Shadows in the Slums follows ordinary men, women, and children who dare to rise against systems designed to keep them invisible. Their struggle burns through smoke-filled workshops, crowded alleys, and the corridors of power-revealing how unity can ignite even the darkest corners of society. This is a story of people who have nothing left to lose and everything to win. This book matters because it shows how the oppressed-armed only with unity, hope, and the truth -can rewrite their own fate. It reminds us that injustice is not distant history, but a living force shaping our world today. Readers will leave these pages inspired, awakened, and more of the power that emerges when people stand together.

Intelligence Engineering: Operating B...

KShs5,500.00
Intelligence continues to undergo significant changes at a remarkable pace, notably developments related to ‘Big Data’, surveillance and cyber. Intelligence today involves multiagency, multinational, multidisciplinary, multidomain information sharing and sense-making, conducted by commerce, academic, government, civil society, media, law enforcement, military, and nongovernmental/nonprofit organisations. Increasingly complex systems, including interrelated technical dimensions, are central to modern defence systems. Intelligence Engineering: Operating Beyond the Conventional provides a new framework for generating analysis, exploring how systems to system-of-systems can be harnessed both for and into the future. Intelligence engineering (IE) involves the use of scientific and technical knowledge to artfully create, operate, maintain, and dismantle complex devices, machines, structures, systems, and processes that support and/or disrupt human endeavour occurring in the intelligence context. Spanning both human and technical intelligence realms, IE includes the collection and analysis of information that is of military and/or political value, and that relates to international relations, defence, and national security. Strategic Futures, risk management across to resilience concerns are similarly engaged. As the chapters show, intelligence continues to extend further into engineering realms, including Federation of Systems and System of Systems Engineering approaches, social engineering, and so forth. System of Systems Engineering is a methodology used by the US Department of Defense, law enforcement, military, and emergency management work. It is used for information collection, allowing the sharing of research data and tools (such as software), for example in joint operations where army, navy, and air force must work together, with their systems interoperating with each other, or with coalition forces. Command and control, communications, and medical care systems are also systems that must interoperate to support operations in hostile or unstable situations. The book presents several System of Systems analysis, along with important intelligence criteria relating to specificity, timeliness, accuracy, relevance, and clarity. Risk analysis and assessment are discussed as well. This core text will offer students and practitioners a toolkit ready for use by outlining the methodology of Intelligence Engineering.

Lumumba: Africa’s Lost Leader b...

KShs3,500.00
Patrice Lumumba (1926-61) is perhaps the most famous leader of the African independence movement. He became an icon of anti-imperialist struggle after his execution in 1961, when he had been the prime minister of the newly liberated Congo for only seven months. As the news came out, his picture was brandished in demonstrations in capitals around the world, along with those of Che Guevara and Mao Zedong. His life and the independence that he sought for the Congo made him a pivotal figure of the twentieth century, exposing ongoing Western colonialism and the problematic nature of the independence granted to huge swathes of the globe after 1945. In this book, revised and updated to include new thinking on the Congo crisis and incorporating material recently released from British intelligence archives, Leo Zeilig tells the story of the Congo in the dying days of colonialism and of Lumumba’s transition from nationalist to revolutionary to international symbol of African liberation.

The Selectorate: When Judges Topple t...

KShs1,890.00
Across Africa, the shift from authoritarian rule to elective civilian government has brought new challenges. Among them is the judiciary’s evolving role in political outcomes. Judges, once constrained arbiters of electoral disputes, have become increasingly unconstrained in determining who holds power—shifting legitimacy from voters to the courts. In some cases, this influence has extended beyond the courtroom, creating a system where a small, connected elite decides leadership under the cover of legal process. In The Selectorate, Chidi Odinkalu examines how this shift took root, with Nigeria’s judiciary playing a leading role in setting the precedent. Drawing on legal insight and first-hand experience, he unpacks the consequences of this quiet transformation and what it means for both judicial independence and the future of democracy in Africa.

A trailblazing collection of writing from Binyavanga Wainaina's extraordinary life 'In your text, treat Africa as if it were one country. Don't get bogged down with precise descriptions.' Binyavanga Wainaina was a seminal author and activist, remembered as one of the greatest chroniclers of contemporary African life.
