SINGING FREEDOM – Kenyan Poems ...

KShs1,200.00
This anthology is a compilation of translated poems from Mutiiri: Njaranda ya Miikarire, a journal founded in 1994 by Ngugi Thiong'o at New York University, USA. A majority of the contributors to that journal were writers who were either forced into exile by the Kenyan government in the 1980s or people who willingly emigrated in pursuit of educational and career advancement opportunities. This anthology could be read as a literary document on Kenya's social and political history, while the translated poems are informed by experiences of colonialism, neo-colonial authoritarianism, harsh economic conditions, clamor for change ad the quest for justice, gender equity and freedom.

In the Hands of a Poet

KShs1,500.00 KShs1,300.00
In the Hands of a Poet is a journey through the thoughts, emotions, and fleeting moments that make up our lives. These poems reach into themes of love, loss, faith, humor, reflection, and the quiet in-between spaces we often overlook. Some pieces ask questions, others offer warmth, and a few may sit with you long after you turn the page. The verses in this collection explore what it means to feel deeply and to find meaning in the mundane. You’ll find poems that echo spiritual longing and others that laugh at life’s little ironies. There are verses about friendship, family, heartbreak, identity, and the slow unfolding of self-awareness. Some celebrate, some mourn, and some simply observe. The language is honest, sometimes playful, sometimes solemn—but always intent on making a connection. These poems do not demand agreement or perfect understanding. Instead, they offer space: space to feel, to question, to remember, or to simply be.

The Call for a Christian Teacher

  1. Is discipleship amongst student a ministry? How does one make their teaching count for eternity? Why is it necessary to engage in students’ ministry? If these are the questions you have in your mind, then this is the book for you. This book is aimed at awakening the greatest call for every Christian teacher-a call to make disciples for Jesus Christ. It is not about discipleship as a program, no but being intentional in walking with the children and teenagers that God has placed on our hands. It is about discipleship as demonstrated by Jesus Christ in the gospels; how he walked with them for 3 years of his life. Jesus began by calling them from their lucrative business of fishing, he persuaded them that being fishers of men was way better than fishers of fish; he walked with them; he taught them how to live as Christians especially on his sermon on the mount; he prayed with them and taught them how to pray; he rebuked and corrected them, in love when it was necessary; he acted as an excellent model of godliness , for instance washing their feet as an act of servant leadership, and his demonstration of love as he interacted with the sinners. He basically lived a life that inspired his disciples. These are the lessons that have been incorporated in this book. It is about how discipleship with young people can lead to a transformation of the society at large. Read it, but most importantly, Go ye…
