Let us begin at the beginning. I met Peace Anyiam-Osigwe when I was sixteen. But she met me when I was already two years old. I had met her on the page of ThisDay. Someone had interviewed her and she was talking about her life in England and the Africa Movie Academy Awards. She looked calm, mild and charming in the pictures they had put there. There was something intimidating about her, though: her background. I tried to envy her. I tried to hate her. I felt she was an opportunist. That she had everything flowing for her. I felt she didn’t bother so much like I did. I wanted to know why most people were blessed than the others. It was until the year we started communicating that I realised that there are certain things one doesn’t need to know. That successful men and women see hell before getting to heaven. Sometimes, it doesn’t make sense wen we only tell the good sides of the stories to where we are today. Maybe, I was quick enough to conclude that her life was completely rosy, that she got everything that she wanted. That even by a snap of the finger, she could command anyone to believe in her dreams and aspirations. All these things I realized as soon as I pushed hard to know her. For some that I spoke to she was inaccessible, distant and unreachable and each time I heard people say that, I would burst into hysterical laughter. To them, they were being realistic and here I was, talking so much already about a woman I ‘barley’ knew. Knowing my kind of person, I didn’t need to know here for ages before understanding her.

When she First said No!

Poetry
KShs2,000.00
This is a vibrant collection of poems that dive headfirst into the exhilarating, heart-wrenching, and complex realms of love, loss, faith and human nature. In the title poem, "When She First Said NO!", the poet laments about his unrequited love and rejection. This sets the stage for the flurry of emotions you'll witness as you flip through the pages. You'll find yourself immersed in deep emotions: feel the thrill of new love, cringe at the agony of heartbreak, and identify with the trials and tribulations of keeping a relationship afloat. But it doesn't stop there! This poetic treasure trove also delves into the spiritual realm, with the poet seeking solace and guidance from the divine. And let's not forget the darker side of human nature equally portrayed - temptation, lust, and the fiery fury of hate and anger- all laid bare in finely crafted captivating verses. Written in a delightful mix of styles - from free-flowing verses to time-honoured forms - this collection offers something for you. Whether you're drawn to soul-searching introspection or captivating poetic storytelling, you'll find yourself captivated by the sheer range of emotions and experiences on display. Let the poetic adventure begin!

Vaults of Secrets

African Interest
KShs2,500.00
In one story, a conscience takes it upon itself to keep prodding its principal until she tells the truth about the paternity of her four children. In another story, a woman cannot live with the result of her promiscuous lifestyle. In the title story, Vault of Secrets, a man has a special gift of walking into places at the most inopportune times. In another story, a woman facing the death penalty relives the story of a friend who has already suffered the same fate. In yet another prison story, a man comes to terms with his complicity in activism gone wrong. The stories in this collection flirt with the limits of freedom and bondage, they are a means with which Olukorede Yishau examines the nature of man and his ability to choose; more so man’s ability to live with the choice he has made.
