Description

Silas is a man defined by his invisibility. A dedicated clerk within the Ministry of Trade, he spends his days as a silent, unnoticed fixture of the office, overlooked by his superiors and dismissed by the elite. But while those around him are busy consolidating wealth and influence, Silas is watching.

He sees the broken systems, the diverted grain subsidies, and the hollowed-out infrastructure of a nation suffering under the weight of greed. He sees the “men in silk ties” who dine on the starvation of the provinces. And most importantly, he sees Mr. Kalu; a man whose arrogance is only matched by his carelessness.

When Kalu pushes Silas too far, he unknowingly activates the only person in the Ministry who truly understands how the system works. From his quiet corner, Silas becomes the architect of a shadow war. Armed only with the truth and an unmatched precision for data, he begins to dismantle Kalu’s empire one encrypted file at a time.

They call him “the Devil.” But as the city of Maraba begins to wake from its fearful stupor, they realize the Devil isn’t a monster; he is simply the man who decided to turn on the lights.

The Devil Within is a tense, electrifying political thriller that explores the cost of integrity in a world built on lies. In a game where the hunter becomes the hunted, Silas proves that the most dangerous person in the room is the one who refuses to speak until it is far too late to stop him.

Blood Brothers: The Fatal Friendship Between Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X November 1, 2016 by Randy Roberts and Johnny Smith

Books, Educational Books
KShs3,000.00 KShs2,500.00
In 1962, boxing writers and fans considered Cassius Clay an obnoxious self-promoter, and few believed that he would become the heavyweight champion of the world. But Malcolm X, the most famous minister in the Nation of Islam, saw the potential in Clay, not just for boxing greatness, but as a means of spreading the Nation’s message. The two became fast friends, keeping their interactions secret from the press for fear of jeopardizing Clay’s career. Clay began living a double life—a patriotic “good negro” in public, and a radical reformer behind the scenes. Soon, however, their friendship would sour, with disastrous and far-reaching consequences. Based on previously untapped sources, from Malcolm’s personal papers to FBI records, Blood Brothers is the first book to offer an in-depth portrait of this complex bond. An extraordinary narrative of love and deep affection, as well as deceit, betrayal, and violence, this story is a window into the public and private lives of two of our greatest national icons, and the tumultuous period in American history that they helped to shape.

Why We’re Polarized Book by Ezra Klein

Books, Governance
KShs3,000.00 KShs2,399.00
Brief Summary Discover how American politics became a toxic system, why we participate in it, and what it means for our future--from journalist, political commentator, and cofounder of Vox, Ezra Klein. After Election Day 2016, both supporters and opponents of the soon-to-be president hailed his victory as a historically unprecedented event. Most Americans could agree that no candidate like Donald Trump had ever been elected President before. But political journalist Ezra Klein makes the case that the 2016 election wasn't surprising at all. In fact, Trump's electoral victory followed the exact same template as previous elections, by capturing a nearly identical percentage of voter demographics as previous Republican candidates. Over the past 50 years in America, our partisan identities have merged with our racial, religious, geographic, ideological, and cultural identities. Those merged identities have attained a weight that is breaking much in our politics and tearing at the bonds that hold this country together. In this groundbreaking book, Klein shows how and why American politics polarized around identity in the 20th century, and what that polarization did to the way we see the world and each other. And he traces the feedback loops between our polarized political identities and our polarized political institutions that are driving our political system towards crisis. Neither a polemic nor a lament, Klein offers a clear framework for understanding everything from Trump's rise to the Democratic Party's leftward shift to the politicization of everyday culture. A revelatory book that will change how you look at politics, and perhaps at yourself.

Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshall

Books, Self Help & Motivation
KShs2,990.00 KShs2,890.00
Prisoners of Geography: Ten Maps That Tell You Everything You Need to Know About Global Politics. Maps have a mysterious hold over us. Whether ancient, crumbling parchments or generated by Google, maps tell us things we want to know, not only about our current location or where we are going but about the world in general. And yet, when it comes to geo-politics, much of what we are told is generated by analysts and other experts who have neglected to refer to a map of the place in question. All leaders of nations are constrained by geography. In "one of the best books about geopolitics” (The Evening Standard), now updated to include 2016 geopolitical developments, journalist Tim Marshall examines Russia, China, the US, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Japan, Korea, and Greenland and the Arctic—their weather, seas, mountains, rivers, deserts, and borders—to provide a context often missing from our political reportage: how the physical characteristics of these countries affect their strengths and vulnerabilities and the decisions made by their leaders. Offering "a fresh way of looking at maps” (The New York Times Book Review), Marshall explains the complex geo-political strategies that shape the globe. Why is Putin so obsessed with Crimea? Why was the US destined to become a global superpower? Why does China’s power base continue to expand? Why is Tibet destined to lose its autonomy? Why will Europe never be united? The answers are geographical. "In an ever more complex, chaotic, and interlinked world, Prisoners of Geography is a concise and useful primer on geopolitics” (Newsweek) and a critical guide to one of the major determining factors in world affairs.

THE CIRCLE OF FIRE by Colins Ouma

Religion & Spiritual
KShs2,499.00
"A Spirit that walked a century… returns to complete the circle." From the blood-soaked hills of 1905 to the silent tomb of 2025, a divine current has been walking through generations; awakening, refining, and reshaping destinies. Now, as the mantle rests and the heavens prepare for a new dawn, prophecy speaks of a Hybrid Vessel — half flesh, half light — born to bridge the human and the divine in the age of high technology. The Final Vessel unfolds the mystery of Kenya’s 200-year spiritual journey, from Koitalel’s sacrifice to Raila’s final rest, and into the rise of a new order that transcends politics, tribes, and religion. It is a story of rebirth, awakening, and destiny, blending prophetic vision, historical echoes, and futuristic revelation in one epic timeline from 1905 to 2105. When heaven opens and the sealed mantle breathes again, humanity must choose between evolution or extinction; between machine logic and divine wisdom. The Hybrid Messenger becomes the final key to a prophecy centuries in the making… and the bridge between the old world and the eternal light.

Rebel: The Life and Times of a Ugandan Activist

AutoBiography
KShs2,000.00

Rebel: The Life and Times of a Ugandan Activist is a bold, heartfelt memoir by Anne Mugisha—lawyer, mother, and political reformist—whose remarkable life captures Uganda’s turbulent search for freedom and justice. Told with humor, honesty, and courage, it is a deeply human story about standing up to power, surviving exile, and finding hope in defiance.

Born in Mbarara, western Uganda, Anne grew up in a loving but traditional family during the upheavals of Idi Amin’s dictatorship. Her father’s quiet resistance and her mother’s stoic faith shaped her earliest ideas about justice, truth, and courage. Even as a child, she was outspoken and restless, questioning cultural rules that silenced girls. That independent streak, often punished, became the foundation of the rebel she would later become.

A gifted student, Anne excelled through Uganda’s best schools and earned degrees in law from Makerere University and the London School of Economics. Her career began in Uganda’s Foreign Service, where she represented her country at the United Nations in New York. Yet beneath the diplomatic polish, her conscience stirred. Serving a government that suppressed democracy and dissent clashed with her values. Eventually, she resigned—leaving behind prestige and comfort to join Uganda’s growing political opposition.

By 2000, Anne was among the founding members of the Reform Agenda, led by Dr. Kizza Besigye. It was a daring move that placed her in direct conflict with President Yoweri Museveni’s regime. The 2001 elections brought arrests, intimidation, and violence. Anne, like many activists, became a target and was forced into exile. Leaving her young daughters behind was the most painful decision of her life—but it saved her freedom and, perhaps, her life.

In the United States, Anne began again from nothing. Her asylum hearing, described with gripping detail, captures the vulnerability of a woman stripped of status but not of conviction. When the immigration officer granted her protection, it was more than paperwork—it was validation of her truth. As a single mother, she juggled parenting with advocacy, finding strength in the community of women and exiles who, like her, refused to be broken.

Her activism evolved into global work with the Women’s Learning Partnership, linking her to a network of feminists from Africa, the Middle East, and beyond. Later, through her service with the United Nations in Somalia and other fragile states, she witnessed the same struggles for dignity and democracy that had shaped her own homeland.

Yet Rebel is more than a political memoir—it is a deeply personal reflection on love, loss, and resilience. Anne writes candidly about heartbreak, betrayal, and the loneliness of leadership. She also writes with humor about her missteps, and tenderness about her daughters who gave her reason to keep fighting. Her storytelling is sharp and self-aware, balancing activism with introspection, and conviction with compassion.

Returning to Uganda years later, Anne found a country still marked by corruption and repression—but she also found her voice stronger than ever. She ran for parliament and continued to believe that rebellion is not a phase but a way of living with integrity.

Written with clarity and warmth, Rebel will resonate with readers of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Wangari Maathai, and Malala Yousafzai—stories of women who turn defiance into hope.

Ultimately, Rebel is Anne Mugisha’s love letter to Uganda and to everyone who has dared to speak truth to power. It reminds us that rebellion, at its heart, is not about anger—it is about love: love of justice, of freedom, and of the courage to tell one’s own story.
