“Daddy. Talk to me, not your phone.”
One ordinary evening, a nine-year-old girl put her hand over her father’s screen and said the words every parent dreads. He wasn’t doing anything wrong. He just wasn’t there.
If that moment feels familiar, this book is for you.
Families everywhere are sitting in the same room but living in different worlds. Parents scroll through dinner. Children disappear into tablets and headphones. Conversations shrink to “fine,” “nothing,” and “in a minute.” Nobody decided it should be this way. It just happened.
The problem isn’t only our children’s screens. It’s ours too. Research shows that nearly half of teenagers say a parent is distracted by their phone when they try to talk, while fewer than a third of parents think so. In one recent study, more parents than children used a device during their last family meal.
Talk to Me, Not Your Phone is a warm, practical, judgement-free guide to closing that gap. Instead of lectures and guilt, it gives you a clear 30-day plan that starts with the grown-ups and brings the whole family along.
Inside, you’ll discover how to:
• See the gap between how present you think you are and how your children actually experience you
• Understand the hook: why apps are designed to be hard to put down, and why willpower alone doesn’t work
• Put your own phone down first with a simple 3-day phone audit
• Write a Family Tech Covenant: one page, created together, and signed by everyone, parents included
• Create sacred spaces: phone-free tables, cars, bedrooms, and bedtimes that actually stick
• Handle pushback from toddlers, teenagers, partners, and grandparents without turning home into a battlefield
• Ask better questions that open children up, and tell the family stories that make them resilient
• Fill the space with play, rituals, and shared work that’s genuinely better than a screen
• Prepare your children for their first phone, social media, gaming, and AI companions, one stage at a time
• Bounce back when life gets busy and old habits creep back in
Also included:
• A day-by-day 30-Day Family Plan
• A ready-to-copy Family Tech Covenant template
• 100 conversation starters for young children, tweens, teens, and the whole family
• An age-by-age device guide from toddlers to 18
Grounded in research on child development, attention, and family relationships, and filled with real-life stories and word-for-word scripts, this book will help you raise children who feel heard, and build a home where people come first and screens come second.
Your children won’t remember the screen time rules. They’ll remember whether you looked up.
Scroll up and get your copy today, and start tonight.

Selfhood Divinity of the Clitoris by Rev Timothy Njoya

History, Books, Parenting, Religion & Spiritual, Self Help & Motivation, Women
KShs3,500.00 KShs3,250.00
What you need to know: In his 802-page book: Selfhood; Divinity of the Clitoris, the retired minister of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) gives a rather revolutionary strategy to clean the Kenyan society of the vice in a country where one in three girls is at risk of the cut. In his justification of the brazen title, Rev Njoya says he chose to use the word clitoris in its outright term to bring the message home to every man and woman on the effects of FGM. Retired Rev. Timothy Njoya has taken a radical approach on ending Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Kenya. In his 802-page book: Selfhood; Divinity of the Clitoris, the retired minister of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) gives a rather revolutionary strategy to clean the Kenyan society of the vice in a country where one in three girls is at risk of the cut. In his justification of the brazen title, Rev Njoya says he chose to use the word clitoris in its outright term to bring the message home to every man and woman on the effects of FGM. PIECE OF MEAT “Clitoris is made in the image of God and it is divine,” he explains. “To cut a woman and remove the clitoris is like taking a woman for a piece of meat.” But why is it so important that a clitoris remains in its whole? Rev. Njoya has a divinity answer to that. “A woman’s clitoris has more than 20,000 nerve endings, while a penis is wired with only 2,000 nerve endings,” he states. “The clitoris is wired to pull 60kg of pelvic bones apart and pull them back. Without the nerve endings, the muscles cannot pull apart…that is why 20 per cent of Kenyan women die during child birth because their pelvic bones have nothing to pull them apart when they are circumcised.”

Where are True Parents?

Parenting
KShs700.00 KShs600.00
In Where are True Parents?, Augustine Rugutt explores ways in which parenting determines children’s behaviour and character beyond formative years. In doing so, he associates society’s changing value system, social pressures and use of technology with parenting outcomes, some of which are unpalatable in the eyes of society. He asks whether parents are truly aware of the impact of their conduct and action in shaping the future of their children. A fundamental question is whether parents truly know their children. On the other hand, do children really understand their parents? Such understanding is essential for a sound foundation for society. He makes the irrefutable case that poorly parented children are likely to be poor parents themselves. He challenges parents to understand that parenting is a God-given responsibility. As such, parents owe it to the Maker and the future of society to play their role as parents guided by teachings from the Bible. Step by step advice, most of which is informed by his work with Church, is invaluable for today’s parent.

No girl is limited by Peter Mbuthia

Parenting
Rated 5.00 out of 5
KShs1,500.00 KShs1,100.00
This book is dedicated to the girl child. The two main characters are the dad and his daughter, where the dad is encouraging her to be a curious person, to be a critical thinker, and to ask questions with the view of gaining knowledge and elevating her self-esteem and confidence and therefore setting herself upon an exciting process of self - empowerment. In a society where the girl child faces ever-increasing challenges, she requires mentors who will walk with her as she is growing up. The girl needs to be affirmed that she is equally competitive and that her dreams are as valid as for those of everyone else. The first and most important line of mentoring should be her parents, especially her dad, who should be fully present and fully engaged in her life. Important lessons for how a girl will relate to the opposite gender are learned from her dad. If her dad treats her well, she will feel secure and confident. This book is relevant for the boy child as well, but the author intends to pay special attention to the girl child.

Power Moms: How Executive Mothers Navigate Work and Life by Joann Lublin

Books, Business, Entrepreneurs, Parenting, Women
KShs4,000.00 KShs3,299.00
Brief Summary For the first time in American history, a significant number of mothers are heading major corporations, including General Motors, Ulta Beauty, and Best Buy. Over the past several decades, women have made gains throughout executive suites. Yet these “Power Moms” still struggle with balancing their management responsibilities with raising children. Joann S. Lublin draws on the experiences of the nation’s two generations of these successful women to measure how far we’ve come—and how far we still need to go. Lublin combines her own insights with those of eighty-five executive mothers across industries—including experienced public-company chiefs such as Carol Bartz, the first woman to command Autodesk and Yahoo; Hershey’s Michele Buck, DuPont’s Ellen Kullman, ITT’s Denise Ramos, and WW International’s Mindy Grossman—and twenty-five of their grown daughters. Lublin reveals how trailblazer boomers, many now in their sixties, often endured sweeping disapproval for their demanding management careers, even as their own daughters sometimes rejected their choices. While the second wave of executive mothers—all under forty-five—handle working parenthood with less angst, they still lead stressful lives. Power Moms provides lessons and advice to help today’s professional women, their families, and their employers navigate this challenging terrain. Lublin looks at the trade-offs mothers are too often forced to make between work and family and the root causes, including the dearth of large-scale paid parental leave and other family-friendly policies. While it celebrates the gains women have made, Power Moms makes clear how much more must be done to make being a working mother easier.
