Counterpoint and Other Poems is an anthology that celebrates poetic diversity. Most of the poems in the collection are new and are by previously unpublished poets. These poems engage with aspects of the experience of life from different perspectives while keeping to that foundational demand to use language memorably. Several well-known classics – from East Africa, Africa and the rest of the world – are included in the anthology. These literary gems give the fresh work much-needed historical and aesthetic frames. Rich reward in the form of heightened poetic experience is in store for both the person who reads poetry for his or her own personal enjoyment and the serious student of poetry.
