    Rated 5 out of 5

This book covers this controversial cultural practice that is taking place around the Kenya where it is illegal.

Read the harrowing stories of women who have been genitally mutilated, their accounts of survival and their determination to end this injustice.

Female genital mutilation (FGM) is the partial or complete removal of the external female genitals for cultural rather than medical or religious reasons—its origin is unknown.

A sad and very informative read

Should be available in all school libraries

Orwell on Freedom by George Orwell

Books, Fiction and Non Fiction
$14.49 $13.98
Brief Summary With an introduction by Kamila Shamsie. ‘Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.’ GEORGE ORWELL is one of the world’s most famous writers and social commentators. Through his writing he exposed the unjust sufferings of the poor and unemployed, warned against totalitarianism and defended freedom of speech. This selection, from both his novels and non-fiction, charts his prescient and clear-eyed thinking on the subject of FREEDOM. It ranges from pieces on individual liberty, society and technology, to political liberty, revolution and the importance of free speech. Orwell's ambition to create a fairer and more egalitarian society is essential inspiration as we strive for freedom and equality in today's world. 'If liberty means anything at all it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.' ISBN:9781473565326 Author:George Orwell

New Thinking For The New Millennium

Books, Self Help & Motivation
$11.67 $11.29
Brief Summary To millions of people world-wide, Edward de Bono's name has become synonymous with creativity and new thinking. He is the undisputed world leader in what may be the most important field of all in the future: constructive and creative thinking. Now, in New Thinking for the New Millennium, de Bono asks: Who will succeed in the new millennium? Those who rely on our traditional, centuries-old way of thinking -- "what is" -- or those who combine it with new thinking skills -- the "what can be" approach that is so critical to future achievement? The last millennium has not been a great success. We have advanced in science and technology, but not much in human behavior. Is it possible that this has been due to poor thinking? Edward de Bono maintains that the thinking of the last millennium has been concerned with WHAT IS. This is the thinking of analysis, criticism and argument. What we have not sufficiently developed is the thinking concerned with WHAT CAN BE. This is thinking that is creative and constructive, and which seeks to solve conflicts and problems by designing a way forward. The emphasis of his proposed new thinking is on design and not judgment. ISBN:9781893224056 Author:Edward de Bono

Announcing a brand new, cover-to-cover revision of America's pregnancy bible. What to Expect When You're Expecting is a perennial New York Times bestseller and one of USA Today's 25 most influential books of the past 25 years. It's read by more than 90% of pregnant women who read a pregnancy book--the most iconic, must-have book for parents-to-be, with over 14.5 million copies in print. Now comes the Fourth Edition, a new book for a new generation of expectant moms--featuring a new look, a fresh perspective, and a friendlier-than-ever voice. Heidi Murkoff has rewritten every section of the book, answering dozens of new questions and including loads of new asked-for material, such as a detailed week-by-week fetal development section in each of the monthly chapters, an expanded chapter on pre-conception, and a brand new one on carrying multiples. More comprehensive, reassuring, and empathetic than ever, the Fourth Edition incorporates the most recent developments in obstetrics and addresses the most current lifestyle trends (from tattooing and belly piercing to Botox and aromatherapy). There's more than ever on pregnancy matters practical (including an expanded section on workplace concerns), physical (with more symptoms, more solutions), emotional (more advice on riding the mood roller coaster), nutritional (from low-carb to vegan, from junk food–dependent to caffeine-addicted), and sexual (what's hot and what's not in pregnant lovemaking), as well as much more support for that very important partner in parenting, the dad-to-be. Overflowing with tips, helpful hints, and humor (a pregnant woman's best friend), this new edition is more accessible and easier to use than ever before. Virgin Way

Rated 4.00 out of 5
$15.87 $15.28
Now Branson gives an inside look at his strikingly different swashbuckling style of leadership. Learn how fun, family, passion, and the dying art of listening are key components to what his extended family of employees around the world have always dubbed (with a wink) the "Virgin Way.” This unique perspective comes from a man who dropped out of school at sixteen, suffers from dyslexia, and has never worked for anyone but himself. He may be famous for thinking outside the box—an expression he despises—but Branson asserts that "you’ll never have to think outside the box if you refuse to let anyone build one around you.” This is a unique book on leadership from someone who readily admits he has never read a book on leadership in his life. So expect the unexpected."" ISBN:1591847564 Author:Richard Branson
