It's half-term. Most of the boys at Mukibi's Educational Institute for the Sons of African Gentlemen are going home for the holiday, but Moses and King Kong have a better plan. Why not sneak off and spend the weekend in Tororo, the nearby town, and have some fun by themselves while the staff think they're at home and their families think they are at school?

nIt's a great idea, but, as so often happens with the two friends' great ideas, things tend to go a bit wrong. First of all they meet Finito, a seedy-looking old man, but he's in a remarkably interesting line of business, and he offers the boys a well-paying job. Moses and the Ghost
Is there really a ghost haunting Mukibi's Educational Institute for the Sons of African Gentlemen? Moses, his friend King Kong, and the rest of the gang in Dormitory 3 don't believe in ghosts. That is, they are pretty sure they don't. But then who, or what, is the weird white figure flitting about the school compound at night? Where did the mysterious bloodstains come from? And who was responsible for the sinister laughter outside Miss Namukasa's door?
The deputy headmaster, Mr Karanja, believes he has the answer to all these questions: it's Dorm 3 trying to be funny. So HM and KK, together with Rukia, Itchy Fingers and the rest, set out to grab the ghost before it gets them all expelled.
This is the sixth of Moses' witty chronicles of life in Uganda's most awful school.
Moses and the Penpal
The craze for writing to penpals sweeps Mukibi's Institute for the Sons of African Gentlemen. Anywhere else, this would be a harmless enough hobby but at Mukibi's, even a letter can be dynamite. And, not surprisingly, Moses and King Kong are right in the middle of the explosion.

nThen there is the new boy, Kasali, who has an unusual hobby of his own. Hidden in the dormitory, he's set up a strange contraption for making wine. Everyone in Dorm 3 agrees it is very good wine, and that Kasali has a bright future ahead of him in the liquor business. Moses the Camper
Moses and his friend, King Kong, set a dorm in their school, Mukibi's Educational Institute for the Sons of African Gentlemen, on fire - accidentally of course. Thus it is that the Dorm 3 inmates find themselves camping out in tents by the river and up to their necks in trouble.

nIt is while they are trying to push a tent pole into the stony ground that King Kong digs up a bag containing gold watches, bracelets, necklaces, rings, and six cameras in smart brown leather cases!

nNeedless to say, the boys are unable to keep their great discovery to themselves and, before long, they are involved with thieves and with the police as King Kong disappears.

Moses and the School Farm

What if they end up with blisters on their hands and aching muscles? What if the agricultural tools are as ancient as the hills?
