Married to a devil, married wrongly by Muthamaki Togno Togno

Parenting
KShs4,000.00 KShs3,700.00
PREFACE Stories are born not only from imagination but from lived truths, whispered fears, and the unspoken struggles that shape human existence. Married to a Devil is my attempt to give voice to those silent battles — the ones fought behind closed doors, where love is twisted into control, and trust is eroded by manipulation. This novel follows Kanyũrũ, a humble man from Limuru, whose quiet dignity becomes both his strength and his vulnerability. His marriage to Wakĩ ihũ ri, a woman of striking beauty but consuming narcissism, is not simply a tale of romance gone wrong. It is a reflection of how cultural expectations, family entanglements, and unchecked abuse can transform a union into a psychological prison. Through Kanyũ rũ ’s journey, I wanted to explore the hidden dimensions of marriage — the gaslighting, the betrayal, the subtle erosion of self-worth that so often goes unnoticed or dismissed. Wakĩ ihũ ’s rebellious daughter, her withdrawn son, and her manipulative siblings are not just characters; they are symbols of the many forces that conspire to keep victims trapped in cycles of pain. This book is not written to vilify women or glorify men, but to illuminate the reality that abuse knows no gender, and that silence only deepens suffering. It is a call to recognize the red flags, to challenge the myths of “normal” families, and to remind readers that resilience and healing are possible even in the darkest of circumstances. I am deeply grateful to my longtime friend Jane Octavio, whose Foreword frames this work with the wisdom of a counsellor who has seen such stories unfold in real life. Her words remind us that this is not just fiction, but a mirror of lived experiences across cultures and continents. May Married to a Devil serve as both a haunting story and a beacon of awareness. And may those who read it find not only empathy for Kanyũ rũ ’s plight but courage to confront their own truths. Mũthamaki Togno - Author AUTHOR’S NOTE T his book was born out of silence — the kind of silence that suffocates, isolates, and convinces men that their pain is unworthy of voice. In telling Kanyũrũ’s story. I sought not only to break that silence but to honor the resilience of those who have carried scars in secret. What began as a narrative of survival grew into a testimony of healing, fatherhood, and the redefinition of masculinity. I did not write this story to dwell on suffering, but to illuminate the path beyond it. The characters, though shaped by trauma, are equally shaped by courage, forgiveness, and transformation. Their journeys reflect the possibility of generational repair — that sons and daughters can rise from brokenness, and that communities can learn to listen. If these pages leave you with anything, let it be the conviction that dignity is not negotiable, and that truth, however painful, is always liberating. Scars are not shame, but maps of survival. And silence, once broken, becomes a song of hope. — Mũthamaki Togno Togno Mũthamaki Togno Togno: A Living Healer; A Living Oracle Mũthamaki, embody this ancestral bridge. My writing is ritual. As a successful merchant, he has little in common with the rakehell youth she knew. The second Ladies of Lantern Street novel from Amanda Quick explores the crimes, passions and paranormal secrets of Victorian London. Under the plain gray skirts of Miss Beatrice Lockwood’s gown, a pistol waits at the ready. For Beatrice is a paid companion on a secret mission—and with a secret past—and she must be prepared to fight for her life at any moment. Yet she is thrown oddly off guard by the fierce-looking man who joins her in foiling a crime outside a fancy ball—and then disappears into the shadows, leaving only his card. His name is Joshua Gage, and he claims to know Beatrice’s employers. Beyond that, he is an enigma with a hypnotically calm voice and an ebony-and-steel cane. . . . Joshua, who carries out clandestine investigations for the Crown, is equally intrigued. He has a personal interest in Miss Lockwood, a suspected thief and murderer, not to mention a fraudster who claims to have psychical powers. The quest to discover her whereabouts has pulled him away from his mournful impulses to hurl himself into the sea—and engaged his curiosity about the real Beatrice Lockwood, whose spirit, he suspects, is not as delicate as her face and figure. He does know one thing, though: This flame-haired beauty was present the night Roland Fleming died at the Academy of the Occult. Guilty or not, she is his guide to a trail of blood and blackmail, mesmerism and madness—a path that will lead both of them into the clutches of a killer who calls himself the Bone Man. . . . Wulf’s long-legged stride ate up the seemingly endless length of white stone hallway with ease. The guards stationed at various intervals bowed at the waist as he passed, their eyes wide as they stared at Katie squirming and swearing loudly over his shoulder. She had the vocabulary of a hardened soldier and she didn’t hesitate to use it. He’d never been so verbally abused in his life. Coming from Katie, he enjoyed it immensely. The doors to the seraglio slid open when he approached. He entered to a chorus of eager greetings and sighs at his half-dressed state. As his concubines rushed toward him, he kept them at bay by holding up the hand not currently caressing Katie’s buttocks. “Your Royal Highness.” He turned to the elderly woman prostrated just to the right of him. “Sabine.” He greeted his chamberlain with a smile. Once, she had been his father’s concubine. Now retired, she served Wulf by maintaining order in his harem. “You may rise.” ISBN:2147483647 Author:Sylvia Day

Oh, those naughty rakes. With their wicked winks, sensual smiles, and bad boy habits, you just can’t take them out in polite society. But who wants to go out when you can stay in…? Stolen Pleasures Sebastian Blake, Earl of Merrick, long ago fled the responsibilities of his title to become the infamous pirate, Captain Phoenix. But the booty he’s just captured on a merchant ship is a fierce tempered minx who claims to be a bride…his bride, married to him by proxy on behest of their fathers. He could shame his hated family and return his beautiful wife untouched, but no treasure has ever proved more tempting to Sebastian, and making their marriage a true one–in every sense–is his one urgent desire … Lucien's Gamble Lucien Remington’s reputation as a debauched libertine who plays by no one’s rules–in business or the bedroom–is well deserved. He gets what he wants, social repudiation be damned. But society can keep from him the one thing he truly desires, the untouchable Lady Julienne La Coeur. Until she sneaks into his club dressed as a man and searching for her irresponsible brother. Suddenly she’s in Lucien’s grasp, his to take, and his mind is filled with the most wickedly sinful thoughts. A gentleman would walk away from the temptation she presents. But then, Lucien has never claimed to be a gentleman… Her Mad Grace Hugh La Coeur never wanted to be the Earl of Montrose. Wine, women, and a hefty wager are preferable to responsibility of any kind. It’s certainly preferable to spending the night in an eerie, neglected mansion owned by a legendary madwoman. The duchess’s companion, the fiercely independent Charlotte, is another matter altogether. Hugh would be happy to spend as many nights in her bed as possible. He knows she’s hiding terrible secrets, but for once in his life, Hugh has the desire to take on someone else’s burden as his own, no matter what the danger… They’re mad, bad, and totally irresistible ISBN:2147483647 Author:Sylvia Day
