    Book Review: The Untamable Jackal
    Reviewed by: Michael Jackson

Tobias Otieno Ogola’s The Untamable Jackal is a gripping and thought-provoking novel that delves into the complexities of human nature, morality, and the fine line between survival and deception. With a masterful blend of psychological depth and raw storytelling, Ogola crafts a narrative that keeps readers engaged from the first page to the last.

The protagonist, a cunning and unpredictable character, embodies the spirit of the untamable jackal—elusive, sharp-witted, and always one step ahead. Ogola’s storytelling is rich in symbolism, weaving together themes of power, betrayal, and the struggle between instinct and conscience. Through vivid descriptions and compelling dialogue, he brings his characters to life, making their dilemmas feel real and urgent.

One of the book’s greatest strengths lies in its ability to challenge conventional perspectives. Just when the reader begins to sympathize with a character, Ogola introduces a twist that forces a reevaluation of what is right and wrong. His ability to create morally gray situations keeps the story unpredictable and intellectually stimulating.

The pacing is well-balanced, with moments of intense action seamlessly interwoven with introspective passages that reveal the inner workings of the protagonist’s mind. The prose is both poetic and sharp, a testament to Ogola’s skill as a writer.

The Untamable Jackal is more than just a novel—it is a philosophical exploration of the choices people make when pushed to the edge. Fans of complex, character-driven stories will find themselves captivated by this book. Tobias Otieno Ogola has once again proven his talent in crafting literature that resonates deeply with the human experience.

The way of living man

Self Help & Motivation
KShs1,300.00
  • You are already on the brink of your life--you only know not.
The Way of the Living Man by Tobias Otieno Ogola is a head on clash with the fantasy of time, preparation and waiting to get the right time. It kills the illusion that life begins later and it is substituted by a more terrestrial truth that it is now and it was always so. The book is not a comforting one. It is written in disruptive manner. Laid as a guide to the field rather than a more traditional narrative, the work gives three hundred brief sayings -all of them edges of the blade intended to cut through indecision, justification-making and inactive existence. These are utterances that are points of action. Each demands movement. Each requires sacrifice. Both of them compel the reader to leave the identity of a person who is attempting and embrace the identity of a person who is acting. The major conflict of the book is resistance. The reader will be supposed to disagree, to protest, to find reasons to prove what he is doing now. This opposition is not an objection, but the object. The uncomfortable thoughts are specifically pointed at the bottom of the reader. The book redefines the emotional resistance as a diagnostic instrument and indicates where one needs to be developed. The book is divided into ten central areas of change to give the reader a sequence of external and internal development: Delay must be put behind, inner anarchy experienced, discipline and purpose developed, and finally one gets to the point of full expression, which the book calls dying empty. This idea is not the figurative hedonism; it is offered as a quantifiable norm of a full life, in which no opportunity of value is discarded or denied. The voice is unreachable. It makes the assumption that the reader has lost his interest in theory, or in passive inspiration. It is also somewhat addressed to the man, who is able to observe his own stagnation and is willing to confront it. It denies softness, denies long preparation, and denies the comfort of self-perception which is not coupled with action. Way of the Living Man is not something that is passively consumed. It is to be used, it is to be scribbled, it is to be re-read, it is to be rubbed in. It places itself in the position of a working manual- something to be carried, worked with, and put to the test in actual life. It is not a book that everybody can enjoy. It does not strive towards wide appeal. It is addressed to people who experience the burden of the unrealized potential and the time running out. In its bareness the book is a cold one-liner; you are already on the edge. The next question is, Will you come out--or shall you continue to wait till there is nothing more to come into?

But Tobias is more than a fighter. He is a shadow economist. A robber of plundered riches. A financial system ghost. His mission: Follow national resources embezzled Infiltrate elite networks Collapse corrupt infrastructures Give back embezzled funds to the citizens. Season 4: Media warfare Season 5: Corporate dismantling Season 6: Judicial corruption Season 7: Global expansion Season 8: Elite collapse Season 9: Psychological endgame This work is dedicated to the late King Raila Amolo Odinga and to the Luo patriots who stood, fought, and in many cases fell in the struggle for justice, land, and dignity,to Tom Mboya, Argwings Kodhek, Robert Ouko, and to the countless unnamed whose sacrifices were never fully recorded; this story exists as both remembrance and resistance, a continuation of their defiance, and a declaration that the fight they carried through history has not ended, but has evolved into a new kind of war against systems that still deny people their rightful land, voice, and dignity.

The Ideal Bride

Books, Romances & Thrillers
KShs899.00 KShs855.00
New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Laurens has created some of romance's most unforgettable novels. Now she has created her most provocative love story—and amazing hero—to date. This is the book that dares to ask the question: Who is this man's ideal bride? Michael Anstruther-Wetherby is a rising member of Parliament—a man destined for power. Aristocratic, elegant, and effortlessly charming, he is just arrogant enough to capture the interest of the ladies of the ton. And with his connections to the wealthy and influential Cynster family—his sister is married to Devil Cynster, the Duke of St. Ives—his future appears assured. Except that Michael lacks the single most important element of success: a wife. Political pressure sends him searching for his ideal bride, a gently bred, malleable young lady, preferably one with a political background. Michael discovers such a paragon but finds a formidable obstacle in his path—the young lady's beautiful, strong-minded aunt—Caroline Sutcliffe. One of London's foremost diplomatic hostesses, Caro has style and status but, having lived through an unhappy political marriage, wants nothing of the sort for her niece, who has already lost her heart to another. So Caro and the younger woman hatch a plot—Caro will demonstrate why an inexperienced young lady is not the bride for Michael. She succeeds in convincing him that what he really needs is a lady of experience by his side. And the perfect candidate is right under his nose—Caro herself. Then it is Michael's turn to be persuasive, a task that requires every ounce of his seductive charm as he tempts and tantalizes Caro, seeking to convince her that becoming his bride will bring her all her heart desires … and more. But then a series of mysterious, and dangerous, accidents befall Caro—an assailant has stepped in with their own idea for Caro's future—one that could involve murder. Before Caro can become Michael's ideal bride, they must race to uncover the unknown's identity before all hope of what they long for, and wish for, is destroyed. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

Books, Romances & Thrillers
Rated 1.00 out of 5
KShs1,690.00 KShs1,490.00
Two sisters, one practical and full of commonsense, the other a passionate and emotional creature, an uncaring brother and his avaricious wife, a handsome rake and a faithful gentleman – these are some of the unforgettable characters who make Jane Austen's first published novel, Sense and Sensibility such a delightful, witty and timeless classic. Sense and Sensibility is a charming story of two sisters who see life from two very different viewpoints. When their father suddenly dies, leaving his entire estate to their half-brother John, the sisters, Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, their mother and youngest sister Margaret are thrown at the financial mercy of John and his mean-minded wife, Fanny. Mrs Dashwood and her daughters soon realize that they are not welcome at their former home Norland Hall. Fanny's brother Edward Ferrars, who is quite different from his greedy and graceless sister, arrives and begins to form an attachment to Elinor, which is violently opposed by Fanny. Mrs Dashwood is hurt and bewildered, but finally realizes that they have no option but to leave. They move to Devonshire, where Mrs Dashwood's cousin, Sir John Middleton welcomes them and helps them to find suitable lodgings. While out walking one rainy evening, Marianne suffers a small accident and is rescued by the suave and dashing John Willoughby. She falls passionately in love with him. The story takes several interesting twists and turns, driven by the opposing natures of the two sisters. More than two hundred years after publication, this delightful tale still manages to capture the reader's imagination as it echoes universal truths of passion, love, social status and ethics. Sense and Sensibility is a coming of age novel, marked by Jane Austen's deliciously ironic and sharp wit and famously under-stated style that will certainly appeal to modern-day readers.

Wulf’s long-legged stride ate up the seemingly endless length of white stone hallway with ease. She had the vocabulary of a hardened soldier and she didn’t hesitate to use it. He’d never been so verbally abused in his life. Coming from Katie, he enjoyed it immensely. The doors to the seraglio slid open when he approached. He entered to a chorus of eager greetings and sighs at his half-dressed state. As his concubines rushed toward him, he kept them at bay by holding up the hand not currently caressing Katie’s buttocks. “Your Royal Highness.” He turned to the elderly woman prostrated just to the right of him. “Sabine.” He greeted his chamberlain with a smile. Yet as her boldness drew Prue into one dangerous episode after another, Sebastian found himself torn between a raging hunger to possess her and a driving need to protect her. And the reckless beauty would soon need all the protection she could get. ISBN:2147483647 Author:Amanda Quick
