UNPLUGGED 3 – Modern Women and Female Nature

The ancient Greek Philosopher Plato said we were once conjoined and very happy. But Zeus split us into male and female to punish us for our egoism, leaving us forever looking for our other half.

This soulmate myth has been used to advertise the finding of true love as a matter of destiny, and many novels and movies have been developed from this belief. Overpriced honeymoons, diamond rings, and other excessive accoutrements of romanticism have been developed from this myth, alongside cases of homicide when the expectations of the beloved are violated.

The Bible says in Genesis that God created woman to be a helper of man. Is female nature reflective of this, or was this a romantic fantasy fabricated by patriarchy to subjugate women into submitting to men? If pressure is meant for the shoulders, not for the hips, can hips help the shoulders?

Across many animals, including octopuses, some species of pythons, and the praying mantis, the female kills and often eats the male after mating. When circumstances force the man to depend on his wife for survival for a long time, does the wife support him or discard him?

With all the patriarchal structures removed and the modern woman empowered to do as she wishes, how does she handle relationships and her place in society? Why are women filing for divorce 70-80% of the time, and why does this rate go close to 90% when the woman is educated and has a career? Why does divorce have an appeal for the modern woman? Polled Gen Z women (born 1995-2012) rank marriage as their 7th priority behind travel, a career, buying a house, financial independence, etc. What does this portend for the institution of marriage?

In the face of unfettered female nature, we look at how women handle relationships, leadership, submission, money, and parenting. We delve into how competition anxiety affects fertility and desire in women.

The hot-button topic of single motherhood is tackled unflinchingly alongside the sins of the mothers and how, despite their best intentions, women raise weak men.

This book shines the light on the dark aspects of female nature and modern women in a manner not done before. It gets uncomfortable along the process, but we shrug off the discomfort, clinically excavate the features and lay them bare.

  1. Nancy Kemuma – 24th July 2025

    Rated 5 out of 5

Reading ‘Unplugged 3’ by Jacob Aliet is like sitting in a room where a bold conversation is unfolding. It’s one you weren’t sure you wanted to be part of, but find yourself unable to leave.

It is written by a man, yes. But not the kind who’s out to preach or patronize. Instead, Aliet approaches his subject with a quiet boldness, unafraid to say what many only whisper behind closed doors.

The author writes about modern women with a tone that is direct, occasionally jarring, but strangely thought-provoking.

The book tackles topics that make you sit up: marriage, divorce, female sexuality, career ambition, single motherhood, and how these evolving realities are reshaping both women and men. Aliet’s voice is not always tender. In fact, some pages may make you frown or even flinch. But then again, aren’t some truths uncomfortable before they are freeing?

From a woman’s perspective, this book is layered.

On one hand, it might feel like someone dissecting your life without fully knowing what it’s like to live in your skin. But there’s value in hearing how the world sees you, especially how men interpret the shifts we’re still trying to make sense of.

Aliet doesn’t sugarcoat. He investigates into the modern woman’s journey through what he calls the ”unplugging” process, examining what’s lost and what’s gained as women grow into independence, reject traditional gender roles, and redefine what it means to thrive.

    He asks uncomfortable questions:
    – Has modern empowerment come at a hidden cost to intimacy?
    – Are women truly freer, or are we carrying heavier emotional loads under the weight of ”having it all”?
    – What has changed for men now that women are leading, earning, and asserting more?

The author draws from history, religion, pop culture, and personal observation, crafting a book that reads like a mix of social commentary and philosophical exploration. And while the tone is unapologetically masculine, there’s an underlying curiosity, a desire to understand rather than dismiss.

Perhaps what surprised me most is how much I found myself reflecting on my choices. On what freedom really means to me. On how I’ve navigated love, ambition, and identity in a world that applauds independence but still judges a woman harshly when she deviates from the script.

There’s a chapter on marriage that particularly stood out. Aliet critiques modern romantic expectations. It made me uncomfortable. But it also made me think. And that’s what good writing does.

If you’re looking for comfort, this book is not for you. It’s for women and men who want honest, yet stinging conversations.

As a woman, I didn’t always agree with Aliet. In the same breath, I never felt dismissed. If anything, I felt seen through a lens that doesn’t flatter but reflects.

This book may leave you with more questions than answers. But if you’re the kind of reader who values curiosity over comfort, then this book is worth your time.

It dares to say the quiet parts out loud.

I’ve just finished reading Unplugged 3 and I must commend you, it’s a thought-provoking and well-researched piece of work. The breadth of referencing, the integration of theory, and the real-world observations reflect a deep commitment to understanding both human behaviour and gender dynamics.

There’s a lot in the book that resonated with me. The themes around accountability and responsibility particularly stood out. Your emphasis on owning one’s choices and outcomes rather than blaming others is powerful and universally applicable, regardless of gender.

I also appreciated the point that relationships are mirrors—reflecting where we are emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually at any given time. The book does well to unpack how both men and women must confront their inner worlds to understand their relational patterns.

Your commentary on modern-day dynamics like the rise of single motherhood, emotionally driven partnerships, and the shift in gender roles felt timely and accurate. The social consequences of certain choices made in early adulthood are well captured, and your lens on delayed consequences is sobering.

There’s also an important critique of the performative nature of some marriages and the reality that many women, consciously or unconsciously use relationships for survival or status. It may be uncomfortable for some readers, but it’s necessary to challenge these norms if we’re to foster healthier engagements between the sexes.

I liked how you touched on sacredness and intentionality in intimacy, the importance of self-awareness, and the reality that men and women should complement each other, not complete each other. Your reminder to be the “mental point of origin” and focus on self-mastery is a standout message from the book.

Thank you for writing this. While it is directed toward men, there’s a lot that women can also take away especially those who are introspective and value personal evolution.

    That’s my feedback!😊

Unplugged came to me at the perfect time, being a victim of hypergemy and not understanding what was happening to my perfect love(deep blue pill mentality), boy did the cold hard truths sting! But after the sting, there was clarity and focus that I have never experienced in my entire life. Goals were set, actionables followed upon, am talking about life changing decisions. Every young man should have a copies of these series of books. I highly recommend

Unplugged: Things Our Fathers Did not Tell Us by Jacob Aliet

Sociology
Rated 4.89 out of 5
KShs1,700.00 KShs1,500.00
UNPLUGGED – What Our Fathers Did not Tell Us As children, we learnt from Disney that if you treat her like a queen, she will treat you like a King. We were also taught that a man should go on one knee while proposing to a woman because women are the prize. We were also taught that we should listen to our wives and be gentlemen because women like nice boys they can trust and not bad boys who weren’t faithful. Men have tested these ideas, and thousands of men have lived to share their experiences and results. This book consolidates what men have learnt about intergender dynamics: what works and what does not work. Today, marriage rates are declining. Forty per cent of single black women in the US are single mothers who prioritize getting babies over getting in a stable long-term commitment, aka marriage. Why do many young girls today prefer becoming side chicks to high-value men rather than settling in marriage with an average man? In 2019, the American Psychological Association labelled traditional masculinity as harmful. But if so, why are women striving to be like men? What is the impact of masculine females on relationships? Why are women being told to “act like a lady and think like a man” if masculinity is harmful? What attracts women to men, and how can men maintain that attachment? In the age of social media, where women get free attention and validation from hundreds of men, how do men in long term relationships deal with partners who feel they have so many options? Women file for divorce 70-80% of the time in the western world. How can men navigate marriage with modern women incentivized to divorce by divorce laws? Why did the Greeks equate the feminine with chaos, represented as the goddess Pandora? Why are most oracles in epics female, and why did God tell Adam that his first sin was listening to Eve? On average, men’s handgrip strength, testosterone levels, and overall masculinity is declining, while women’s enrolment rates in universities have outstripped those of men. Among trans adults, the majority are men who say they were born female. Why? Why is masculinity on the decline? In 2021, before a whole school assembly at Brauer College in Victoria, Australia, the male students were all told to stand up, turn to a girl in their class and say sorry. Yet they had done nothing wrong. Based on Census Bureau historical data and Morgan Stanley forecasts, 45% of prime working-age women (ages 25-44) will be single by 2030—the largest share in history—up from 41% in 2018. This book traces the origin of the steady decline of the man’s role in the family. It also seeks to help men understand female nature, revitalize masculinity and build full-stack men who can navigate relationships while providing leadership in an increasingly gynocentric world that has largely silenced men. This book will plug you from comforting lies to cold hard truths.

Unplugged 5 – Operant Conditioning by Jacob Aliet

KShs1,700.00 KShs1,500.00
UNPLUGGED V: Operant Conditioning What does it mean to be a man in an era where masculinity is mocked, purpose is blurred, and love has become transactional? In UNPLUGGED V: Operant Conditioning, Jacob Aliet delivers his most raw, unflinching, and revelatory volume yet in the UNPLUGGED series. This is not just a book — it’s a weapon against manipulation, a manual for reclaiming personal sovereignty, and a manifesto for men lost in the maze of modern relationships. Drawing from behavioral psychology, real-world anecdotes, evolutionary science, and red-pill philosophy, Aliet exposes the hidden dynamics that condition men to become subservient — emotionally, financially, and sexually — in their own homes and relationships. With brutal clarity, he dismantles the myths of “happy wife, happy life,” unpacks why men are being desexualized and manipulated, and shows how operant conditioning is quietly shaping male behavior in marriages, churches, offices, and bedrooms. From the crisis of the middle-class man, to why women "make rules for betas and break them for alphas", to the lies men and women tell themselves, and finally, to how to walk away and reclaim your frame — this book confronts the cultural illusions suffocating modern masculinity. 🔥 Why you should read it: • If you're tired of the emotional bureaucracy that nice guys go through… • If you're questioning why success doesn’t bring fulfillment… • If you've ever felt manipulated, emasculated, or invisible in a relationship… • If you want to raise strong sons in a world that is actively weakening men… Then this book will feel like a slap, a sermon, and a sword. UNPLUGGED V is not for the weak. It’s for the man who’s ready to see the truth, bear the cost, and live free.

Why Nations Fail by Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson

Books, Governance
KShs3,000.00 KShs2,690.00
Brilliant and engagingly written, Why Nations Fail answers the question that has stumped the experts for centuries: Why are some nations rich and others poor, divided by wealth and poverty, health and sickness, food and famine? Is it culture, the weather, geography? Perhaps ignorance of what the right policies are? Simply, no. None of these factors is either definitive or destiny. Otherwise, how to explain why Botswana has become one of the fastest growing countries in the world, while other African nations, such as Zimbabwe, the Congo, and Sierra Leone, are mired in poverty and violence? Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson conclusively show that it is man-made political and economic institutions that underlie economic success (or lack of it). Korea, to take just one of their fascinating examples, is a remarkably homogeneous nation, yet the people of North Korea are among the poorest on earth while their brothers and sisters in South Korea are among the richest. The south forged a society that created incentives, rewarded innovation, and allowed everyone to participate in economic opportunities. The economic success thus spurred was sustained because the government became accountable and responsive to citizens and the great mass of people. Sadly, the people of the north have endured decades of famine, political repression, and very different economic institutions—with no end in sight. The differences between the Koreas is due to the politics that created these completely different institutional trajectories. Based on fifteen years of original research Acemoglu and Robinson marshall extraordinary historical evidence from the Roman Empire, the Mayan city-states, medieval Venice, the Soviet Union, Latin America, England, Europe, the United States, and Africa to build a new theory of political economy with great relevance for the big questions of today, including: - China has built an authoritarian growth machine. Will it continue to grow at such high speed and overwhelm the West? - Are America’s best days behind it? Are we moving from a virtuous circle in which efforts by elites to aggrandize power are resisted to a vicious one that enriches and empowers a small minority? - What is the most effective way to help move billions of people from the rut of poverty to prosperity? More philanthropy from the wealthy nations of the West? Or learning the hard-won lessons of Acemoglu and Robinson’s breakthrough ideas on the interplay between inclusive political and economic institutions? Why Nations Fail will change the way you look at—and understand—the world."

Working with Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman

Books, Self Help & Motivation
KShs2,800.00 KShs2,500.00
Brief summary Do you have what it takes to succeed in your career? The secret of success is not what they taught you in school. What matters most is not IQ, not a business school degree, not even technical know-how or years of expertise. The single most important factor in job performance and advancement is emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is actually a set of skills that anyone can acquire, and in this practical guide, Daniel Goleman identifies them, explains their importance, and shows how they can be fostered. For leaders, emotional intelligence is almost 90 percent of what sets stars apart from the mediocre. As Goleman documents, it's the essential ingredient for reaching and staying at the top in any field, even in high-tech careers. And organizations that learn to operate in emotionally intelligent ways are the companies that will remain vital and dynamic in the competitive marketplace of today—and the future. Comprehensively researched, crisply written, and packed with fascinating case histories of triumphs, disasters, and dramatic turnarounds, Working with Emotional Intelligence may be the most important business book you'll ever read. Drawing on unparalleled access to business leaders around the world and studies in more than 500 organizations, Goleman documents an astonishing fact: in determining star performance in every field, emotional intelligence matters twice as much as IQ or technical expertise. Readers also discover how emotional competence can be learned. Goleman analyzes five key sets of skills and vividly shows how they determine who is hired and who is fired in the top corporations in the world. He also provides guidelines for training in the "emotionally intelligent organization," in chapters that no one, from manager to CEO, should miss. Working with Emotional Intelligence could prove to be the most important reference for bottom-line businesspeople in the first decades of the 21st century ISBN:9780553378580 Author:Daniel Goleman
