Description

The world is full of invitations: invitations to carry burdens that are not yours, to fight battles that do not belong to you, and to surrender your peace in exchange for approval.

The Unbothered Soul is a poetic journey through whispers, rays, pauses, and scars, tracing the path from endurance to sovereignty. Across city skylines and quiet shores, these poems explore love, loss, reflection, and renewal.

These poems are not an escape from the world. They are a return to the self. For every soul learning to release what was never theirs to carry, this collection offers a quiet compass toward clarity, freedom, and inner authority.

You do not need to fight every battle you are invited to. You are unbothered.

You are unbreakable.

You are home.

Bioethics of Medical Advances and Genetic Manipulation by Marion Mutugi and Isaac Lenaola

Books, African Interest
KShs2,800.00 KShs2,490.00
Brief Summary This is an important book. It provides a comprehensive and cogent exposition of the intersection between law, medicine and genetics at a critical time in Kenya’s history – a time when we are focused on interpreting and implementing the expansive provisions within the Constitution of Kenya 2010; a time when we are committed to operationalizing relevant legislation such as the Human Tissues Act Revised Edition 2012, the Biosafety Act 2009 and the HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Act 2006. Clearly, those who want to be better acquainted with the nexus between human rights, bioethics, medical research and genetic manipulation will find great value in this work. The Hinge of Fate

Books, AutoBiography
KShs1,895.00 KShs1,801.00
Brief summary Winston Churchill's six-volume history of the cataclysm that swept the world remains the definitive history of the Second World War. Lucid, dramatic, remarkable both for its breadth and sweep and for its sense of personal involvement, it is universally acknowledged as a magnificent reconstruction and is an enduring, compelling work that led to his being awarded the Nobel Prize for literature. The Hinge of Fate describes how the tide of the war gradually turned for Britain and its allies from constant defeat to almost unbroken successes - Japan's successful assault on the Pacific, Britain's attempts to aid a beleaguered Russia and the defeat of Rommel at the Battle of Alamein. Black Klansman Race Hate and the Undercover Investigation of a Lifetime

Books, African Interest
KShs1,299.00 KShs1,235.00
Brief Summary The extraordinary true story of the black detective who goes undercover to investigate the KKK, the basis for the major motion picture written and directed by Spike Lee, and produced by Jordan Peele. When detective Ron Stallworth, the first black detective in the history of the Colorado Springs Police Department, comes across a classified ad in the local paper asking for all those interested in joining the Ku Klux Klan to contact a P.O. box, Detective Stallworth does his job and responds with interest, using his real name while posing as a white man. He figures he’ll receive a few brochures in the mail, maybe even a magazine, and learn more about a growing terrorist threat in his community. A few weeks later the office phone rings, and the caller asks Ron a question he thought he’d never have to answer, "Would you like to join our cause?” This is 1978, and the KKK is on the rise in the United States. Its Grand Wizard, David Duke, has made a name for himself, appearing on talk shows, and major magazine interviews preaching a "kinder” Klan that wants nothing more than to preserve a heritage, and to restore a nation to its former glory. Ron answers the caller’s question that night with a yes, launching what is surely one of the most audacious, and incredible undercover investigations in history. Ron recruits his partner Chuck to play the "white" Ron Stallworth, while Stallworth himself conducts all subsequent phone conversations. During the months-long investigation, Stallworth sabotages cross burnings, exposes white supremacists in the military, and even befriends David Duke himself. Black Klansman is an amazing true story that reads like a crime thriller, and a searing portrait of a divided America and the extraordinary heroes who dare to fight back. Drood

Books, Fiction and Non Fiction
KShs795.00 KShs756.00
Drood… is the name and nightmare that obsesses Charles Dickens for the last five years of his life.On June 9, 1865, Dickens and his mistress are secretly returning to London, when their express train hurtles over a gap in a trestle. All of the first-class carriages except the one carrying Dickens are smashed to bits in the valley below. When Dickens descends into that valley to confront the dead and dying, his life will be changed forever. And at the core of that ensuing five-year nightmare is…Drood… the name that Dickens whispers to his friend Wilkie Collins. A laudanum addict and lesser novelist, Collins flouts Victorian sensibilities by living with one mistress while having a child with another, but he may be the only man on Earth with whom Dickens can share the secret of…Drood. Increasingly obsessed with crypts, cemeteries, and the precise length of time it would take for a corpse to dissolve in a lime pit, Dickens ceases writing for four years and wanders the worst slums and catacombs of London at night while staging public readings during the day, gruesome readings that leave his audiences horrified. Finally he begins writing what would have been the world’s first great mystery masterpiece, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, only to be interrupted forever by…Drood.Based on actual biographical events, Drood explores the still-unresolved mysteries of one of our greatest writer’s dark final days in a profoundly original tale that confirms Lincoln Child’s assessment of New York Times&nbs ISBN:2147483647 Author:Dan Simmons

A Season of Blood: Poems from Kenyan Prisons by Maina wa Kinyatti

Books, International Bestsellers, Kenya Fiction, Poetry
KShs1,200.00 KShs990.00
The conditions that prisoners in Kenya endure are extremely barbaric. Every morning at 5 a.m., male prisoners are ordered out of the cells stark naked for internal body searches. The guards search their mouths and armpits, ears and nostrils. They pull, twist and squeeze their genitals. They order the prisoners to face the walls with their legs spread apart to examine their anuses for concealed weapons, money and other contraband. They use sharp sticks to probe the prisoner's rectums. In a sense, the guards are more interested in prisoners' buttocks than in the search. They make sexual remarks such as, "Look at this one, his buttocks are two mountains, it is difficult to mount him...and look at this one, his arsehole is sharped like a woman's vagina...This one has a soft arse like his mother..." After the brutal searches, the prisoners are beaten and kicked. These monstrous acts are repeated every morning. It is a humiliating and degrading. Maina was arrested on June 2, 1982 by dictator Moi's regime for the crime of thought. He was imprisoned for six years with hard labor. Despite the brutal isolation and censorship, physical and psychological torture, Maina made friends with a few prison guards who supplied him writing material and smuggled everything g he wrote out of prison and took it to Mumbi, his wife. The poems in this text were part of the written material smuggled out of prison. The themes of poems express the horrors of imprisonment, the brutality and viciousness of the Kenyan authoritarian regime, the intensification of the struggle for democracy.

The perilous environment surrounding Sandra put her between a rock and a hard place. Aiden too navigates through puzzling circumstances trying to save Sandra who was running from predicaments that unsympathetically never seemed to give her space to breathe. Even after an accident and Aiden’s leg is amputated-he didn’t lose hope; he optimistically went after Sandra just to bring her back home, to dry her tears, tears that he made her shed; he was in love. At last, Sandra, Aiden and Eleanor Agnes Odin-Aiden’s mother, found peace, love and acceptance. They then swore never to run away but rather face the vicious world and it’s nefariousness with courage and presumptuousness. A new life begins when Sandra and Aden get a fruit of their loins-Grace.
