Paracletic Communion by Jacqueline M

Poetry
KShs900.00 KShs650.00
It has really changed my life, Brought life to my dry bones, Given life to my lifeless situations. It has made my soul that was so void Turn into a complete and lifeful one. It has turned my loneliness into solitude. The lone space that would eat me up, Now renews me as I only get there to commune with You. Oh! Holyspirit my Lord. Being with You. -Jacques

When Leadership Is Challenged is a collection of several researches in the bible history, social and political spheres, economical and governance aspects. The challenges that affected their yesterday were the problems of their today that ruined their tomorrow because they were not well dealt with. The failure of any organization and communities was just a result of leadership malfunction based on the leadership root system and structure. Examples extracted from the bible illustrated the beginning of fall of man and rebellions that resulted into disappointments and death. In political and governance spheres, the research carried out revealed a lot of mistrusts, rebellions, treacheries, murder, governments being overthrown and many other criminal outcomes as a result of poor root system in leadership. Socially, many generations were and still are affected due to the culture set up by the leadership in place. Youth mostly were the ruined generations that even up to now some are no better than resourceful persons. Early marriages and illiteracy ruined most of their talents and future lives. Poetry
Rated 4.00 out of 5
KShs800.00 KShs650.00
The perilous environment surrounding Sandra put her between a rock and a hard place. Aiden too navigates through puzzling circumstances trying to save Sandra who was running from predicaments that unsympathetically never seemed to give her space to breathe. Even after an accident and Aiden’s leg is amputated-he didn’t lose hope; he optimistically went after Sandra just to bring her back home, to dry her tears, tears that he made her shed; he was in love. At last, Sandra, Aiden and Eleanor Agnes Odin-Aiden’s mother, found peace, love and acceptance. They then swore never to run away but rather face the vicious world and it’s nefariousness with courage and presumptuousness. A new life begins when Sandra and Aden get a fruit of their loins-Grace.

A Season of Blood: Poems from Kenyan Prisons by Maina wa Kinyatti

Books, International Bestsellers, Kenya Fiction, Poetry
KShs1,200.00 KShs990.00
The conditions that prisoners in Kenya endure are extremely barbaric. Every morning at 5 a.m., male prisoners are ordered out of the cells stark naked for internal body searches. The guards search their mouths and armpits, ears and nostrils. They pull, twist and squeeze their genitals. They order the prisoners to face the walls with their legs spread apart to examine their anuses for concealed weapons, money and other contraband. They use sharp sticks to probe the prisoner's rectums. In a sense, the guards are more interested in prisoners' buttocks than in the search. They make sexual remarks such as, "Look at this one, his buttocks are two mountains, it is difficult to mount him...and look at this one, his arsehole is sharped like a woman's vagina...This one has a soft arse like his mother..." After the brutal searches, the prisoners are beaten and kicked. These monstrous acts are repeated every morning. It is a humiliating and degrading. Maina was arrested on June 2, 1982 by dictator Moi's regime for the crime of thought. He was imprisoned for six years with hard labor. Despite the brutal isolation and censorship, physical and psychological torture, Maina made friends with a few prison guards who supplied him writing material and smuggled everything g he wrote out of prison and took it to Mumbi, his wife. The poems in this text were part of the written material smuggled out of prison. The themes of poems express the horrors of imprisonment, the brutality and viciousness of the Kenyan authoritarian regime, the intensification of the struggle for democracy.
