Description

Are mass violence and catastrophes the only forces that can seriously decrease economic inequality? To judge by thousands of years of history, the answer is yes. Tracing the global history of inequality from the Stone Age to today, Walter Scheidel shows that inequality never dies peacefully. Inequality declines when carnage and disaster strike and increases when peace and stability return. The Great Leveler is the first book to chart the crucial role of violent shocks in reducing inequality over the full sweep of human history around the world.

Ever since humans began to farm, herd livestock, and pass on their assets to future generations, economic inequality has been a defining feature of civilization. Over thousands of years, only violent events have significantly lessened inequality. The “Four Horsemen” of leveling—mass-mobilization warfare, transformative revolutions, state collapse, and catastrophic plagues—have repeatedly destroyed the fortunes of the rich. Scheidel identifies and examines these processes, from the crises of the earliest civilizations to the cataclysmic world wars and communist revolutions of the twentieth century. Today, the violence that reduced inequality in the past seems to have diminished, and that is a good thing. But it casts serious doubt on the prospects for a more equal future.

An essential contribution to the debate about inequality, The Great Leveler provides important new insights about why inequality is so persistent—and why it is unlikely to decline anytime soon.

3 Kings Diddy Dr Dre Jay Z and Hip Hops Multi billion Dollar Rise

Books, AutoBiography
KShs2,899.00 KShs2,755.00
Brief Summary Tracing the careers of hip-hop's three most dynamic stars, this deeply reported history brilliantly examines the entrepreneurial genius of the first musician tycoons: Diddy, Dr. Dre, and Jay-Z Being successful musicians was simply never enough for the three kings of hip-hop. Diddy, Dr. Dre, and Jay-Z lifted themselves from childhood adversity into tycoon territory, amassing levels of fame and wealth that not only outshone all other contemporary hip-hop artists, but with a combined net worth of well over $2 billion made them the three richest American musicians, period. Yet their fortunes have little to do with selling their own albums: between Diddy's Ciroc vodka, Dre's $3 billion sale of his Beats headphones to Apple, and Jay-Z's Tidal streaming service and other assets, these artists have transcended pop music fame to become lifestyle icons and moguls. Hip-hop is no longer just a musical genre; it's become a way of life that encompasses fashion, film, food, drink, sports, electronics and more - one that has opened new paths to profit and to critical and commercial acclaim. Thanks in large part to the Three Kings-who all started their own record labels and released classic albums before moving on to become multifaceted businessmen-hip-hop has been transformed from a genre spawned in poverty into a truly global multibillion-dollar industry. These men are the modern embodiment of the American Dream, but their stories as great thinkers and entrepreneurs have yet to be told in full. Based on a decade of reporting, and interviews with more than 100 sources including hip-hop pioneers Russell Simmons and Fab 5 Freddy; new-breed executives like former Def Jam chief Kevin Liles and venture capitalist Troy Carter; and stars from Swizz Beatz to Shaquille O'Neal, 3 Kings tells the fascinating story of the rise and rise of the three most influential musicians in America. Living Ahead of Time is a transformative marketplace blueprint that reveals how to move from a reactive survival mode into a proactive, high-impact lifestyle by combining prophetic foresight with advanced business strategies.

Authored by Wambua Sirman, the book introduces the powerful concept of "living on the positive side of the number line"—building intense spiritual, intellectual, and structural buffers so that you can absorb life's unexpected subtractions (like career shifts, asset deceptions, or personal grief) and maintain an absolute baseline of momentum.

Through deep-dive biblical case studies—including Joseph's supply chain management, Daniel's continuous corporate relevance, and the Proverbs 31 multi-industry diversification matrix—this text provides actionable keys to mastering Divine Intelligence (DI) over Artificial Intelligence, accurately interpreting private night dreams, navigating territorial real estate traps, legitimately optimizing taxes, and preserving true generational wealth through corporate structures rather than traditional wills.

Millionaire Blind Spot by Michael Mbugua
Summary
Millionaire Blind Spot by Michael Mbugua is a personal finance and wealth-creation book about the hidden beliefs, habits, and missed opportunities that prevent people from building lasting wealth.
The book explores the idea that many people work hard to earn money but fail to understand the deeper principles that help money grow. Their greatest obstacle may not be a lack of opportunity, but a blind spot in how they think about money, investment, ownership, and financial freedom.
Through a wealth-building perspective, the book encourages readers to look beyond salaries and everyday spending, recognize opportunities others overlook, develop financial intelligence, and make decisions with the long term in mind.
What readers will learn
Recognize hidden barriers: Identify habits and beliefs that can keep people financially stuck.
