THE ENLIGHTENED SPECIES is a book exploring the inter-dynamics that affect dating as an integral part of the human mating game. It delves into human behavioral patterns exhibited by the two genders right from the first stage of seduction. This brings to the limelight the conduct and rebuttal of every seduction attitude/action.

The woman is irrefutably the initiator of the first steps of seduction as seen in Briffault’s Law. It is the woman who picks the desired male by considering some attributes in him. She then puts herself in a position where he can easily reach her—she is the advertiser in the seduction game while the man is a marketer.

He initiates the seduction game by pitching. Herein is a thorough analysis dissecting the cores of family genesis. Without seduction and mating, the family would be deemed obsolete and the human race would become extinct.

THE DEVIL’S UNDERWEAR by Nahashon Harrison

Kenya Fiction
KShs1,000.00
  1. A compilation of two remarkable fiction novels.
THE DEVIL'S UNDERWEAR This novel is about nothing at all. Only that metaphorically reflects the story of the Devil, protruding fangs, pigheaded, and suffering microcephaly. The moribund curmudgeon and the brainchild of anthropophagy pop into a fashion gallery to only look at the attendant across the face and ask for a pair of cotton balbriggan to adorn his humongous bahookie and not for special occasions but for wearing every day. It was a gigantic woolen balbriggan, and he loved to wear it and swing his pelvic girdle flaunting his humongous breasts and buttocks when something weird happenned—not just today but a couple of times. The Devil shits his pants after emitting fat Malodorous gases. He gets tired of the woolen balbriggan and throws the pair of soiled pants into the laundry baskets— nobody knows if the microcephalic curmudgeon still thinks the underwear is recyclable. A WORLD WITH NO AIR A world with no air" is a compelling story that revolves around the life of an African boy. It is a journey of one man inside himself engulfed with an overwhelming quest for liberation. It is a clear picture of how an average African boy fights to survive in the underprivileged world. It reflects a journey through barricades and dangerous hiccups. It is a pure example of what it means to hit rock bottom. "As I walked along the tiny road that runs from Kenya Clay Works to the other side of the road that connects O.J. and Ruiru town, I tried to figure out what Gmail and email entail. I came up with a genius idea, maybe email means when you send electronic mail, and Gmail means when someone sends a mail using a generator. I did not know. I looked at the piece of paper and ripped it into shreds.”

THE HALLMARK OF IGNORANCE AND THE HALLUCINATIONS OF GOD by Nahashon Harrison

African Interest
KShs700.00

Just a little book with divergent perceptions—affirms the irrationality of belief in God and the critical destruction religion has inflicted on society, from the Garissa University, Orlando shootings, killing of Deborah a Nigerian college student by her Muslim counterparts to 9/11 and much more.

With inclemency and repartee, Nahashon examines God in all his forms, from the sex freak despot of the bible to the more benevolent and irrational angelic horologist favored by some wishful thinkers. He takes away the major altercation for religion and parades the ultimate improbability of a supreme being. He shows how religion propagates war, propells bigotry, and have children abused, bolstering his points with historical and synchronic evidence. The Hallmark of ignorance and the God Hallucinations makes a compelling case that belief in God is not just irrational but unanimously detrimental. It also offers brilliant insight into the good side of not subscribing to faith as cultivation of willful ignorance to individuals and society at large.

Through My African Eyes by Jeff Koinange

Books, African Interest
Rated 5.00 out of 5
KShs3,890.00 KShs3,500.00
"Through My African Eyes!” is a concise narrative covering some of the major players in 20th century African politics. The book is rich with insights into the personal and intellectual underpinnings of many historical events in Africa. Chronicles of some pretty interesting Africans from warlords, soldiers, victims and politicians lend insight into Jeff’s celebrated journalistic style. Through his eyes we are made to understand the role of journalist’s as binders of our social fabric. "Through My African Eyes” is very informative and quite humorous, utilizing a modern quick precise narrative style. He is able to describe complex global geopolitical issues with incisive analysis. The book surf’s one through the experience with speed and historical accuracy. We see the visual the words impart, rather than being stuck in prose. The best part is being able to walk the journey informed by a largely Kenyan perspective. Jeff outlines clearly how biased reportage can splinter any society and promote its disintegration by pandering to people’s lowest instincts. The narrative draws out lesser-known aspects of his life. Jeff’s unblinking examination of his grandfather’s life is historically illuminating and serves as a symbolic bridge between the beginning and the end of colonialism. Jeff is the first African ever to win a Television Emmy and a George Foster Peabody. He merited the Vernon Jarrett Award as well as the prestigious! ‘Prix Bayeux’ for reportage that arrested global crises."

Wizard of the Crow by Ngugi wa Thiongo

Books, African Interest, Kenya Fiction
Rated 3.00 out of 5
KShs3,500.00 KShs2,990.00
Brief Summary From the exiled Kenyan novelist, playwright, poet, and literary critic--a magisterial comic novel that is certain to take its place as a landmark of postcolonial African literature. In exile now for more than twenty years, Ngugi wa Thiongo has become one of the most widely read African writers of our time, the power and scope of his work garnering him international attention and praise. His aim in Wizard of the Crow is, in his own words, nothing less than "to sum up Africa of the twentieth century in the context of two thousand years of world history.” Commencing in "our times” and set in the "Free Republic of Aburiria,” the novel dramatizes with corrosive humor and keenness of observation a battle for control of the souls of the Aburirian people. Among the contenders: His High Mighty Excellency; the eponymous Wizard, an avatar of folklore and wisdom; the corrupt Christian Ministry; and the nefarious Global Bank. Fashioning the stories of the powerful and the ordinary into a dazzling mosaic, Wizard of the Crow reveals humanity in all its endlessly surprising complexity. Informed by richly enigmatic traditional African storytelling, Wizard of the Crow is a masterpiece, the crowning achievement in Ngugl wa Thiongo’s career thus far.

In the House of the Interpreter by Ngugi wa Thiong’o

Books, African Interest
KShs1,500.00 KShs1,190.00
Renowned novelist, poet, playwright, and literary critic Ngugi wa Thiong’o was a student at a prestigious, British-run boarding school near Nairobi when the tumultuous Mau Mau Uprising for independence and Kenyan sovereignty gripped his country. While he enjoyed scouting trips and chess tournaments, his family home was razed to the ground and his brother, a member of the insurgency, was captured by the British and taken to a concentration camp. But Ngugi could not escape history, and eventually found himself jailed after a run in with the forces of colonialism. Ngugi richly and poignantly evokes the experiences that would transform him into a world-class writer and, as a political dissident, a moral compass to us all. A winning celebration of the implacable determination of youth and the power of hope, here is a searing account of the history of a man—and the story of a nation.

The Politics of Betrayal: Diary of a Kenyan Legislator by Joe Khamisi

Books, African Interest
Rated 4.00 out of 5
KShs1,900.00
Brief Summary The Politics of Betrayal: Diary of a Kenyan Legislator In this provocative treatise, author Joe Khamisi catalogues the events that took place during one of Kenya's most important periods in history. This period began in 2002, when Daniel Arap Moi stepped down after twenty-four years as president of Kenya. Khamisi reviews events up to the time when the country exploded in post-election violence in 2007 and the subsequent formation of the Grand Coalition Government between President Mwai Kibaki and Raila Amolo Odinga the following year. Khamisi explores the leadership betrayals that he believes are responsible for the political, social, and economic rot that are pervasive in Kenya. He recounts how he helped a presidential poll loser in the 2007 elections, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, capture the coveted role of vice president. He also presents an in-depth analysis of Senator Barack Obama's visit to Kenya in 2006, as well as his own personal experiences with Barack's late father, who he describes as a person who "chain-smoked contentedly, drank copiously, and partied spiritedly." The Politics of Betrayal is critical reading for anyone who is interested in the transformation of Kenya from a one-party dictatorship to a pluralistic nation.

Against All Odds by Kalonzo Musyoka

Books, AutoBiography
KShs3,000.00 KShs2,790.00
AGAINST ALL ODDS: THE STORY OF STEPHEN KALONZO MUSYOKA, is tale of hope, courage, resilience, determination and faith. It is a story of a village boy who rose from the ashes of poverty in the dry, thirsty and forsaken part of rural Kenya into political stardom. Musyoka, the son of a peasant farmer-cum-shopkeeper, grew up in Mwingi district in Kenya’s Eastern province. His place of birth was and still remains one of the remotest regions in Kenya. The book tells the story of the journey of his life, so far. It finds its beginnings in the local village in Mwingi, where he was born. It traverses time and space to see him through the village school, high school and university, even as it gives a rendition of the various vicissitudes that informed his formative years. From there, it travels on to his early experiments with building a career in legal practice, before plunging into the mud of politics, the world of diplomacy and the challenges of statehood and statesmanship. Being his mother’s only son, Musyoka grew up under the gunfire, and terror of the Shifta bandits. His mother lived in constant fear of witchcraft. The evil eye, she thought, would take her son away. The biography tells of Musyoka’s struggles to gain meaningful education, overcome poverty and eventual entry into Kenyan politics. It narrates his rise to stardom, trials and tribulations and his strong Christian faith. It documents his crucial role as a peacemaker since his schooldays. The impact he had on the Sudanese and Somali peace negotiations. His fears, anxieties and survival instincts. It is a tale of respect for elders. A tale of a man determined to walk the straight path of truthfulness, honesty and integrity. It is a tale of a loving husband and father. It tells of his loyalty, his desire for a Kenya that is not just God fearing but free from want, poverty, corruption and hunger. His eyes are set on a country whose economy will one day compete with those of the developed world; a country whose people will walk and live free from fear of insecurity; a nation whose people will enjoy a free, high quality education, social security and good health. The biography details his political ambitions to ascend to Kenya’s presidency; his dreams, his hopes and his aspirations for Kenya. Caleb Atemi is a renowned writer, communications and public relations consultant. Atemi, a former News Editor with the Nation Media Group and journalism lecturer, is working on other biographies detailing the life and times of prominent Kenyan personalities. The Investment Group Handbook from Chama to Conglomerate by Tony Wainaina

Books, Business
KShs1,500.00 KShs1,190.00
Chama to Conglomerate' captures the global phenomenon of group investment, whereby like-minded people pool their resources together on a regular basis to pursue business projects with long-term returns. This book shows how they can grow from a small club of investors to a big corporate entity. Chamas (informal investment groups) are an African phenomenon with a history that can be traced way back. There have become really common and come about where individuals come together to form groups with a social and commercial agenda. Unfortunately most of these chamas have a very short lifespan and do not live up to the expectations of founding members. According to Tony Wainaina, chamas as an investment group phenomenon is a sleeping giant with far greater potential for economic growth. The book begins by explaining the value of working and investing in a group and the power of compounding. It then goes on to explain the steps in establishing, forming and structuring your investment group. The use of Trans- Century Limited, recognized as the most successful investment group in East and Central Africa, as a role model for aspiring investment groups is given in detail, together with lessons to be learnt from their success. There are a few more chapters as well on management and administration that highlight in detail the do’s to make a successful investment group.
