Musa is a desperate man. His fields have failed. His child is starving. And heaven is silent.
When an old friend leads him to a witchdoctor who promises wealth and power, Musa makes a decision that will echo through his generation — one sealed in blood.Twenty years later, his son Muli appears to have everything: a successful life, a beautiful wife, and a future full of promise. But something is wrong. Pregnancies end in miscarriage. Nightmares reveal a shadowy figure carrying a clay pot and a blade. And a chilling whisper follows every moment of joy: “The covenant remembers.”As loss after loss unfolds, Muli and his wife Sarah uncover a terrifying truth — some agreements cannot be outrun… only broken. But breaking a blood covenant demands more than prayer. It requires a greater covenant. A higher sacrifice. And a truth that could tear their family apart.

The Covenant is a gripping African Christian thriller exploring generational curses, spiritual warfare, and redemption through the blood of Christ.

📖 BONUS: THE COVENANT COMMENTARY, This special edition includes a powerful appendix that reveals the spiritual realities behind the story:• Why covenants operate on legal grounds, not emotion• How bloodlines can carry spiritual consequences• Why prayer alone may not break certain patterns• The difference between a request and a covenant• How to recognize and break generational cycles

⚠️ This is more than a story. It is a warning. A revelation. And a call to freedom. If you enjoy faith-based thrillers with spiritual depth and emotional intensity, this book will stay with you long after the final page.

The perfect nine: the epic of Gikuyu and Mumbi by Ngugi wa Thiongo

Books, African Interest, Fiction and Non Fiction, Kenya Fiction
KShs2,000.00 KShs1,690.00
Brief Summary A dazzling, genre-defying novel in verse, from the author Delia Owens says “tackles the absurdities, injustices, and corruption of a continent” Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o’s novels and memoirs have received glowing praise from the likes of President Barack Obama, the New Yorker, the New York Times Book Review, The Guardian, and NPR; he has been a finalist for the Man International Booker Prize and is annually tipped to win the Nobel Prize for Literature; and his books have sold tens of thousands of copies around the world. In his first attempt at the epic form, Ngũgĩ tells the story of the founding of the Gĩkũyũ people of Kenya, from a strongly feminist perspective. A verse narrative, blending folklore, mythology, adventure, and allegory, The Perfect Nine chronicles the efforts the Gĩkũyũ founders make to find partners for their ten beautiful daughters—called “The Perfect Nine” —and the challenges they set for the 99 suitors who seek their hands in marriage. The epic has all the elements of adventure, with suspense, danger, humor, and sacrifice. Ngũgĩ’s epic is a quest for the beautiful as an ideal of living, as the motive force behind migrations of African peoples. He notes, “The epic came to me one night as a revelation of ideals of quest, courage, perseverance, unity, family; and the sense of the divine, in human struggles with nature and nurture.”

Petals of Blood by Ngugi Wa Thiongio

Books, African Interest, Fiction and Non Fiction, Kenya Fiction
KShs1,000.00 KShs850.00
The Mau Mau rebellion, as it is often called, which began in Kenya in the early 1950s, was a nationalist, anticolonial armed resistance against the British colonial state. The guerrilla movement called itself the Kenya Land Freedom Army; the British dubbed the movement “mau mau,” a meaningless name, to obscure the aims otherwise so clear in the resistance army’s name. Ngugi Wa Thiongío’s Petals of Blood examines, among other things, the betrayal by the postcolonial regime of the ideals of this anticolonial struggle that helped Kenya achieve its independence. The novel revolves around three men and a woman. The four friends reveal different aspects of their history to each other piecemeal, just as their families had guardedly explained the past to them. The lingering effects of the Mau Mau revolt have affected all their lives and by the end of the novel, each character is wrapped up in his or her own exclusive epiphany about life in Kenya. Abdullah, the trader, thinks he failed the movement because he did not avenge the death of a friend who was a revolutionary and who was betrayed. Munira, the schoolteacher and eventual wide-eyed prophet, is paralyzed by the shadow of his successful father, who condemned the Mau Mau but aided the crony corruption of independent Kenya. Wanja, the beauty from a broken home, learns that it was two generations of revolutionary fervor that distorted the home she grew up in. And Karega, Thiongío’s union-pushing hero, scrutinizes the history of Mau Mau as if it were a sacred text. Somewhere in that history, they all believe, is the key to wisdom and justice.

Wizard of the Crow by Ngugi wa Thiongo

Books, African Interest, Kenya Fiction
Rated 3.00 out of 5
KShs3,500.00 KShs2,990.00
Brief Summary From the exiled Kenyan novelist, playwright, poet, and literary critic--a magisterial comic novel that is certain to take its place as a landmark of postcolonial African literature. In exile now for more than twenty years, Ngugi wa Thiongo has become one of the most widely read African writers of our time, the power and scope of his work garnering him international attention and praise. His aim in Wizard of the Crow is, in his own words, nothing less than "to sum up Africa of the twentieth century in the context of two thousand years of world history.” Commencing in "our times” and set in the "Free Republic of Aburiria,” the novel dramatizes with corrosive humor and keenness of observation a battle for control of the souls of the Aburirian people. Among the contenders: His High Mighty Excellency; the eponymous Wizard, an avatar of folklore and wisdom; the corrupt Christian Ministry; and the nefarious Global Bank. Fashioning the stories of the powerful and the ordinary into a dazzling mosaic, Wizard of the Crow reveals humanity in all its endlessly surprising complexity. Informed by richly enigmatic traditional African storytelling, Wizard of the Crow is a masterpiece, the crowning achievement in Ngugl wa Thiongo’s career thus far.
