On the farm

This is a story about survival. Not the kind of survival that makes headlines or wins awards. The quiet kind. The everyday kind. The kind that happens in locked wards and therapy rooms and the space between medication doses. The kind of survival that asks: Can I make it through one more day? I wrote this book because I've been there. Not in the exact same circumstances as Sarah or Marcus, but in that space where the system designed to help you becomes the thing hurting you. Where your diagnosis is used as proof that you can't be trusted to tell the truth about your own life. Where love feels impossible because you've been taught you're too broken to deserve it. This novel is fiction, but the truths within it are real. Psychiatric patients ARE dismissed, disbelieved, and dehumanized every day. Institutional abuse DOES happen, often hidden behind clinical language and closed doors. Mental illness does NOT make someone unreliable, unlovable, or unworthy of dignity. And being believed—truly, fully believed—CAN change everything. Sarah and Marcus are fictional characters, but they represent thousands of real people who have been through the mental health system and emerged with stories no one wanted to hear. Stories of abuse disguised as treatment. Of punishment disguised as care. Of isolation disguised as safety. But also stories of survival. Of finding connection in the darkest places. Of refusing to be silenced. Of fighting back against a system that tried to erase them. This book is for them. For you, if you've lived this. For anyone who has been told they're too sick, too crazy, too broken to be believed.
