Tobias Otieno Ogola

You Go First by Tobias Otieno Ogola is a powerful tribute to nurses and doctors who give everything, even their own health, to care for others. In overcrowded wards, during equipment shortages, through broken ventilators, medication gaps, long shifts, and silent exhaustion, they keep showing up. They work while sick. They risk infection. They carry grief that no one sees. This book reveals the hidden cost of healthcare: the physical collapse, the psychological strain, the moral injury, and sometimes the loss of life itself. It tells the story of professionals who continue to serve despite failing systems and impossible conditions. "You go first" becomes more than comfort for the dying. It becomes a vow of sacrifice. A choice to step into danger before the patient does. This is not just a story about medicine. It is about endurance, courage, and the quiet heroism of those who stand between suffering and survival, even when it costs them everything.
