A book written through the lens of a girl born and bred in the Kibera slum. Through personal experiences, the writer attempts to bring out the life of a typical slum dweller and the challenges they have to endure in the quest for survival and emancipation.
It attempts to demystify prejudices and stereotypes attached to people from the slums and also justify why they behave the way they do. It ends with a call to action by not only giving hope but also challenging the reader that a perceived 'poor' background does not have to serve as a life imprisonment, but a stepping stone for purpose.
