Mutendei Writes

As a bi-racial Kenyan, Nairobi based creative writer, author and blogger (micro & macro) active under the pen name Mutendei Writes, Elias Nabutete focuses on using original, creative  & structured writing and other art forms of his own creation, along with an expanding network of artists, to cover unique and genre inspired material. This stems from the belief of only creating art that forms inspired conversations.

Mutendei’s creative agenda incorporates acknowledging and moving beyond the confines of the mainstream range and spectrum of modern day content, with the aim of breaking down barriers in communities by using artwork to successfully engage the youth and mature audiences alike. Varied media development has been a core focus, supporting the positioning of idea generation and content enhancement for better representation among multiple demographic lines.

Cinematically this has resulted in Mutendei writing and directing the feature film – The Better Marriage Doctors (YouTube), The microfilm – I Was A Spy (Cinematic Concepts, Comics and Animation – Youtube), and being the assistant director on the Engraved Web series. Keen on delivering a holistic experience in artistry Mutendei has also been in front of the camera in local shows like Auntie Boss, Njoro Wa Uba and The Shenaniguns Web Series.

Mutendei Writes’ knack for creative writing expanded from a hobby through high school to college, to an applied profession. Since then having been engaged in several personal writing projects, while supporting the development of other writers and artists, his focus has been on under-represented and misaligned themes, embedding them with richness and cultural value for the artistic society the world today, moves and operates within.

In addition to sharing creative expertise locally and abroad, alongside a list of creative achievements, collaborations and one off productions, with direct personal involvement, ranging from spoken word performances, short stories and several scripts, along with his blog (www.mutendeiwrites.com) Mutendei Writes has written and self-published the following books;

1) EVERYTHING MUTENDEI

2) SHADOW WALKERS: THE GLORY OF KINGS
