The heart is the centre of every human and divine activity. Anything you do without the heart is devoid of substance. The heart is what gives your service, your life, your prayer and your devotion, and even your worship weight. James says ‘The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. (James 5.16). God is not interested in anything you give without the substance your heart. Consequently, any activity, spiritual or physical, will lack eternal impact if it done without the heart because God has set eternity in the hearts of men, not in ideas, activities or plans. David found the secret! While God has been known to reject sacrifices, money, prayers, talent, and even worship offered to Him, David found that there is one thing God cannot reject, one thing He cannot despise- a heart, a certain kind of heart, a broken heart and a contrite spirit. On the other hand, the heart is deceptive, and beyond cure. Your heart is so cunning that it can deceive you, its very owner. It takes God’s searching eye to know the true content of your heart and the closer you get to God, the clearer your heart becomes. This book is a manual that explores different conditions of the heart, both positive and negative and reveals how to condition your heart before the Lord. One who deals with their heart, and offers their heart to God for searching, is certainly assured of God’s habitation. In Ephesians 3.17, Paul prays that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. Conditioning our hearts, therefore, preparing a dwelling place for God.
