How do you survive a storm when the wind is tearing your own family apart?

At just eight years old, Meimuna’s world is shattered when her mother sends her away to live with her married stepsister.

What should have been a protective family reunion quickly degenerates into a bitter, toxic fallout—severely fracturing a bond meant to last a lifetime.

Escaping one fire only to step into another, seventeen-year-old Meimuna enters an arranged marriage, hoping for peace. Instead, she inherits her ultimate test: a stubbornly defiant stepdaughter who views her as an enemy, and a vicious circle of hostile in-laws determined to see her fail.

As the years roll on, the storms only grow fiercer. Between her son’s sudden, devastating illness and her own grueling battle with a life-threatening diabetic condition, Meimuna is pushed to her absolute physical and emotional limits.

When the baton of suffering threatens to pass down to her children, she must make a choice. Will she break under the weight of her trials, or find the fundamental principles needed to conquer the cruelest enemies living within her own home?

Set against a backdrop of ultimate resilience, sacrifice, and survival,

Eyes of the Storm is a gripping, deeply emotional contemporary Kenyan drama about the heavy price of family loyalty.

    Rated 5 out of 5

Eyes of the Storm is a tapestry of trials and tribulations. At just eight years old, Meimuna is sent by her mother to live with her married stepsister. What was expected to be a joyful reunion turns into a bitter fallout, severely damaging a relationship meant to last for eternity.
However, fate separates them before they can go for each other’s throats. At the age of seventeen, the young girl gets her own husband, and this is where she meets her real test of time.
She has to deal with a young, stubborn stepdaughter who believes Meimuna is her enemy. Yet, Meimuna never argues with a version of her younger self; instead, she treats her stepdaughter like a jewel that must be protected, even when its sharpness is uncomfortable to bear.
In her quest for understanding, peace, and mercy, she must deal with evil in-laws, her son’s battle with illness, and a diabetic condition that threatens to shatter her life.
The baton of suffering is passed to her children and grandchildren in what appears to be a war for peace and stability in every character’s life. Will she survive the darkest storms of her life? Grab your copy to understand her fundamental principles in dealing with the cruelest enemy living within her life.

How To Write About Africa by Binyavanga Wainaina

Books
Rated 4.00 out of 5
KShs1,890.00
A trailblazing collection of writing from Binyavanga Wainaina's extraordinary life 'In your text, treat Africa as if it were one country. It is hot and dusty with rolling grasslands and huge herds of animals and tall, thin people who are starving. Or it is hot and steamy with very short people who eat primates. Don't get bogged down with precise descriptions.' Binyavanga Wainaina was a seminal author and activist, remembered as one of the greatest chroniclers of contemporary African life. After his death in 2019, this ground-breaking collection brings together his pioneering writing on the African continent for the first time. A rule-breaker full of wry satire and piercing wisdom, this collection includes many of Binyavanga's most critically acclaimed pieces, including the viral satirical sensation How to Write About Africa. Writing fearlessly across a range of topics - from politics to international aid, cultural heritage and redefining sexuality, this is a remarkable illustration of a writer at the height of his power.
