The one hanging fire which haunts me fresh as a daisy is the KQ 507 air crash in Douala on 5 May 2007. I’ve been torn for years whether to share it, & it’s time to blaze out the emotions that have battled in a mind embattled, for future generations. Africans rarely document events or their lives, with most of our stories untold, forgotten in time. Truth is stranger than fiction; that’s why I wish to pen the events after the crash and recount how bodies of victims were finally repatriated back home.
The Douala air crash is webbed with my life journey. I believe my worldly experiences were to prepare me for what I would encounter in Douala. The human remains were stuck in DLA for 6 months shrouded in mystery. A conspiracy of silence—nobody willing to say why? This is a thrilling account of the whammy intrigues of the Douala air crash. Full of beans, it’s also about the swashbuckling, fizzy, mellow side of African aviation & my post-retirement escapades.
