Where My Name Sounds Different – Lessons from Two Decades Abroad, explores the emotional challenges psychologist Evelyne Waithira Mueller experienced in Germany, as well as those commonly faced by many immigrants, regardless of where they choose to settle.

These include identity struggles, adaptation, belonging, loneliness, broken dreams, migratory grief, challenges of raising black and brown kids here, challenges of intercultural marriages and the often unspoken psychological impact of starting life in a new environment.

Her own journey took her first to the UK, where she worked as a soldier in the British Army, and later to Germany, where she trained and worked as a psychologist supporting many immigrants. Now she works in a leadership role for the national helpline.

Through both personal and professional experience, she understands that while our destinations may differ, the core challenges of adapting to a new culture are remarkably similar.

This book is written to articulate these experiences, raise awareness, offer encouragement, and empower those in the diaspora to pursue a meaningful and fulfilling life despite the challenges we face along the way.

This is the first book in the CROSS CROSSED Series. In a nuclear-capable country where leaders think they were untouchable, and that they are shielded by the constitution and state machinery from the bloody consequences of their actions, their lives wildly unravel when they realize that their downfall rests solely on a single young man, 21-year-old Victor Cross. Cross, surviving as an orphan with a fractured childhood, gets his life set ablaze when a presidential motorcade runs them over on a motorbike, killing his embattled girlfriend and his estranged cousin on the spot. But being a regular 20-year-old student with no power, his loss gets treated by the state as a collateral damage. He lets it slide, but it's that event that sets the chain reaction of everything that's about to happen. A year later, a powerful fugitive employer from the neighboring rival nation hires him only to sacrifice him for a blood money ritual. The sacrifices keep getting rejected, but with every rejection, he loses someone he loves, and this drives him to the very edge, where he meets Six, an ancient being who's been hiding in plain sight for centuries. The simmering evil of state-sponsored massacres have grown too massive that it forced him out into the limelight. After months of state chaos from an active war with the rival nation over the murder of the nation's first lady, Cross path of flee collide with Six’s, where the mystery behind the death of his mother during his birth unravels, his reasons for constant blackouts when traumatized, his potential power, and where his most immediate enemy, the former ritualistic employer, stands in all of this. With no one left to lose, and being surrounded by existential peers, with support from the suicidal opposition leader, and wielding immense power for unconscious violence, every single step towards bringing the ruthless president’s inherited regime down and saving the both his country from oppression and the neighboring country from constant threats of nuclear annihilation becomes a siren song sung in silence.
