How do you hold onto love without losing yourself?

Between Two Shadows is a quiet rebellion disguised as a story — the kind that slips into the room uninvited, like a memory you didn’t ask for but needed to face.

Set between the fading values of yesterday and the loud freedoms of today, it follows men and women trying to love in a world where love has become both weapon and refuge.

Marriages crack under modern independence. Dreams buckle under poverty and pride. Young hearts are pulled between passion and responsibility.

This is a novel that doesn’t shout. It watches. Every character is a mirror — reflecting who we are, and exposing what we fear becoming.

A story of the choices we celebrate, the ones we regret, and the ones we make simply because no one taught us better.

    Bolton-
The Novel ‘ Between Two Shadows’, feels like a story that is told around a fire just like the old times. It seeks to not only entertain but also educate. I dare say caution even. Weaving through the carefully described characters mirrors some of the most difficult decisions we make in life – choosing life partners and relationships in general. It is quite a thought-provoking piece.

Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Books, Fiction and Non Fiction
KShs2,000.00 KShs1,790.00
Brief Summary Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six: The band's album Aurora came to define the rock 'n' roll era of the late seventies, and an entire generation of girls wanted to grow up to be Daisy. But no one knows the reason behind the group's split on the night of their final concert at Chicago Stadium on July 12, 1979 . . . until now. Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock 'n' roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road. Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend. The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice.

Men in Love by Nancy Friday

Books, Fiction and Non Fiction, International Bestsellers, Romances & Thrillers
KShs1,500.00 KShs1,299.00
An extraordinary, explicitly masculine journey, Men In Love develops a startlingly honest portrayal of what it means to be a man in contemporary America. Here are the unexpurgated dreams, fantasies and fetishes that excite and obsess men today. In creating this historic study, Nancy Friday listened--without disapproval, apology or censorship--to the candid responses of thousands of men aged fourteen through sixty. She gave them a legitimate arena where they could share their "secret gardens"--the hidden and forbidden but nonetheless real and true. Much more than a litany of erotica, this unique volume doesn't tell us how men should love. It tells us how men do love--a stunning insight into the desires that dwell within men's psyches... and their hearts.

Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish. Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of what really happened the day her daughter died. Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

Murdering Romance by Kendi Karimi

Fiction and Non Fiction
Rated 5.00 out of 5
KShs1,300.00 KShs999.00
A Wakini Kuria Prize & African Writers Awards shortlisted author

Murdering Romance is a story about Mukami who simply wanted to experience an actual authentic moment of genuine love and call it her own. But let the title not lull you into thinking that the book is solely about romance. It is much more. The author first portrays Mukami as this lady who seems to be on a revenge mission disguised as a pursuit of love but as the plot thickens, the storyline evolves into other deeper issues. The book delves deep into several themes including domestic violence, toxic masculinity, femininity, absentee parents and abuse, among others.

Often there is a gulf of difference between fiction and non-fiction but in Murdering Romance, the dissimilarity between the two is too blurred to discern.

The Girl Who Lived Twice by David Lagercrantza

Books, Fiction and Non Fiction
KShs1,199.00 KShs799.00
Brief Summary "What will you do now?" "I shall be the hunter and not the hunted" The girl with the dragon tattoo is finally ready to confront her nemesis, the only woman who is evidently and in many ways her match. Salander will not wait to be hunted. When she strikes it will be a double blow: vengeance for recent atrocities, and the settling of lifelong scores. For months now Salander has been closing in on her target. She has moved from Stockholm, her hair is newly styled, her piercings are gone. She could pass for any other businesswoman. But not all businesswomen have a Beretta Cheetah beneath their jacket. They do not wield the lethal power of a hacker's genius. They do not carry scars and tattoos to remind them that they have survived the unsurvivable. The new episode in David Lagercrantz's acclaimed, internationally bestselling continuation of Stieg Larsson's Dragon Tattoo series is a thrilling ride that scales the heights of Everest and plunges the depths of Russian troll factories. It begins with the discovery of Mikael Blomkvist's number at Millennium magazine in the pocket of an unidentified homeless man who died with the name of a government minister on his lips. Blomkvist, at extreme risk to himself, tracks down his old friend and will protect her as far as he can. But he is powerless to crush her enemies on his own. And for Lisbeth Salander, the personal is always political - and deadly.
