What happens when life forces you to choose between staying comfortable and surviving the transformation?

In this raw and redemptive memoir, Ngugi Mwatha chronicles his journey from the red-earth paths of rural Kikuyu to the entrepreneurial uncertainty of modern Nairobi, a journey marked by devastating loss, destructive choices, and ultimately, divine intervention.

When Ngugi loses his mother at age twelve, his world fractures. The subsequent years bring geographical transitions between rural and urban Kenya, the weight of premature responsibility, and a descent into alcohol abuse that nearly destroys his future. But in the midst of his lowest point, stumbling out of a Westlands nightclub at 2 AM, a question pierces through the haze: What are you doing here?

That question becomes the catalyst for a spiritual awakening that reshapes everything. Through the community of Mavuno Church, Ngugi discovers that transformation isn’t about perfecting yourself, it’s about surrendering to the process. He navigates the difficult work of rebuilding relationships, developing professional skills through service, and eventually taking the terrifying leap from employment security to entrepreneurial faith.

This memoir speaks to:

Anyone grieving the loss of a parent or loved one
Those struggling with addiction or destructive patterns
Young professionals navigating career transitions
Entrepreneurs contemplating the leap from employment
Christians seeking authentic stories of transformation
Readers interested in contemporary African narratives
Written with unflinching honesty and deep faith, Carried Through offers more than inspiration, it provides a roadmap for those standing at their own crossroads, uncertain whether to move forward or stay put. Through Kikuyu traditions, Nairobi’s evolving landscape, and the practical theology of a thriving church community, Mwatha demonstrates that the strength to navigate life’s transitions isn’t found in avoiding change, but in trusting the God who carries us through it.

Living in the Abundance of God

Books, Religion & Spiritual
KShs1,395.00 KShs1,326.00
It is just as important to learn how to receive a blessing as it is to be willing to give one. So teaches John Osteen in this eye-opening book. Growing up during The Great Depression, John's mentality was shaped by frugality that seeped even into his spiritual life. When God tried to bless and increase his life, he struggled with receiving the abundance of God. But the Bible shows us example after example of those whom God blesses after they lose everything. God wants to shower us with abundance: Grace for Your Every Need Forgiveness for Every Relationship Righteousness for Every Accusation of Satan Joy for Your Heartache and Pain Provision for Your Every Lack Love to Reach Out to Others Power for Your Weakness The Holy Spirit for Changing the World Abundant Freedom for Every Stronghold Miracles for Your Impossibilities Using practical application and divine verification from the Bible, John Osteen shows readers how to embrace the abundance of God in every aspect of their lives." The Great Investment

Books, Religion & Spiritual
KShs1,495.00 KShs1,421.00
This uneven effort by the indomitable Jakes (The Lady, Her Lover, and Her Lord) inadvertently contains two discrete books--one on family, and one on personal finance. The sections on family are the best; Jakes compares the ideal Christian family (two parents, one of whom is a stay-at-home mom, and both of whom were virgins when they wed) with the more diverse reality of contemporary America. He quite effectively addresses nontraditional configurations such as blended, one-parent, and grandmother-headed families in a supportive and nonjudgmental tone. Jakes speaks specifically to African-American families like his own, who were left ""emancipated but incapacitated"" after generations of slavery. The finance portion of the book reflects Jakes's desire to avoid preaching the health-and-wealth gospel while simultaneously telling readers that God wants them to be financially comfortable. Jesus, says Jakes, desires Christians to have the kind of worldly influence that only wealth can bring. Much of Jakes's financial advice is typical of other Christian money gurus such as Larry Burkett and Mary Hunt, though without their detailed plans for debt-free living and profitable investing. Jakes stands out with his memorable biblical examples of prudent money management and his clear stance that Christian tithing should be from gross, not net, income.

The Great Reformer

Books, Religion & Spiritual
KShs2,195.00 KShs2,086.00
A biography of Pope Francis that describes how this revolutionary thinker will use the power of his position to challenge and redirect one of the world's most formidable religionsAn expansive and deeply contextual work, at its heart The Great Reformer is about the intersection of faith and politics--the tension between the pope's innovative vision for the Church and the obstacles he faces in an institution still strongly defined by its conservative past. Based on extensive interviews in Argentina and years of study of the Catholic Church, Ivereigh tells the story not only of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the remarkable man whose background and total commitment to the discernment of God's will transformed him into Pope Francis--but the story of why the Catholic Church chose him as their leader. With the Francis Revolution just beginning, this biography will provide never-before-explained context on how one man's ambitious program began--and how it will likely end--through an investigation of Francis's youth growing up in Buenos Aires and the dramatic events during the Perón era that shaped his beliefs; his ongoing conflicts and disillusionment with the ensuing doctrines of an authoritarian and militaristic government in the 1970s; how his Jesuit training in Argentina and Chile gave him a unique understanding and advocacy for a "Church of the Poor"; and his rise from Cardinal to the papacy.
