Dr. Mlachi is relaxing on the beach with Dr. Sally Mungai, Maria, and an unnamed woman when his dad, nicknamed the black man, returns after close to thirty-five years. The man who left him and his siblings and flew away in a sandstorm throws him into the water eighteen times, despite knowing he can’t swim, but each time rescues him with the help of two ex-convicts well known to him. One is Dr. Nicholas Rotich, his former assistant, while the other is Nancy, his ex-wife, a pediatric nurse who attempted to kill an entire village and was jailed for 21 years.
On the eighteenth time, he manages to swim unaided to the shore, only to be captured by soldiers allied to the granduncle. They blindfold him and crucify him atop a hill, where he stays suspended for three days and three nights, after which he is surprisingly rescued by the granduncle, who needs him to perform one last heart transplant on him and to save his lineage from oblivion. He wakes up from the frightening dream and decides to plunge into politics, the beginning of yet another nightmare, in real-time, and he has to ascend to the presidency like his grandmother prophesied, or forever live in an unending cycle of pain and misfortune.

Two weeks before Kenya’s 53rd independence day celebrations, a secret meeting was held in Guangzhou, China, where the African Union of Left-Handed Presidents was meeting secretly with a North Korean delegation on how best to dispose of nuclear garbage in a deal sponsored by the Chinese government through the IMF. The attendees must be conversant with nuclear physics as well as the Chinese language, which is the preferred medium of communication at the secret meeting. The granduncle does not have a Chinese-speaking nuclear physicist, and for this reason, requests his personal cardiologist to find him one. Unable to find one, Dr. Mlachi settles for Dr. Sally Mungai, who has a working knowledge of Chinese but studied Gynecologic Oncology instead of Nuclear Physics. When cases of cancer become increasingly prevalent from the Upper Eastern region of the country, Dr. Mlachi investigates and decides to stop the program at all costs. Will he succeed?

Top secret data has been stolen from the CIA, and the only man who knows its hiding place is dead. CIA operative Mitch Rapp must race to find the classified information in this blistering novel that picks up where The Last Man left off in Vince Flynn’s New York Times bestselling series. Joseph “Rick” Rickman, former boy wonder at the CIA, stole a massive amount of top secret and hugely compromising intel concerning classified operations all over the world, offering it (and himself) to the Pakistani secret forces. Only his plans went awry when CIA director Irene Kennedy sent Mitch Rapp to hunt him down. It turns out that killing Rickman didn’t solve anything—in fact, the nightmare is only intensifying. Rickman stored the potentially devastating data (CIA assets, operatives, agents) somewhere only he knew, and somehow, from beyond the grave, he still poses a mortal threat to America. Now it’s a deadly race as both the Pakistanis and the Americans search for Rickman’s accomplices and the information they are slowly leaking to the world. Will Rapp outrun and outthink his enemies, or will the Pakistanis find it first and hold America hostage to their dream of becoming the world’s new nuclear superpower? The final novel in the Cousins’ War series, the basis for the critically acclaimed Starz miniseries, The White Queen, by #1 New York Times bestselling author and "the queen of royal fiction” (USA TODAY) Philippa Gregory tells the fascinating story of Margaret Pole, cousin to the "White Princess,” Elizabeth of York, and lady-in-waiting to Katherine of Aragon. Regarded as yet another threat to the volatile King Henry VII’s claim to the throne, Margaret Pole, cousin to Elizabeth of York (known as the White Princess) and daughter of George, Duke of Clarence, is married off to a steady and kind Lancaster supporter—Sir Richard Pole. For his loyalty, Sir Richard is entrusted with the governorship of Wales, but Margaret’s contented daily life is changed forever with the arrival of Arthur, the young Prince of Wales, and his beautiful bride, Katherine of Aragon. Margaret soon becomes a trusted advisor and friend to the honeymooning couple, hiding her own royal connections in service to the Tudors. After the sudden death of Prince Arthur, Katherine leaves for London a widow, and fulfills her deathbed promise to her husband by marrying his brother, Henry VIII. Margaret’s world is turned upside down by the surprising summons to court, where she becomes the chief lady-in-waiting to Queen Katherine. But this charmed life of the wealthiest and "holiest” woman in England lasts only until the rise of Anne Boleyn, and the dramatic deterioration of the Tudor court. Margaret has to choose whether her allegiance is to the increasingly tyrannical king, or to her beloved queen; to the religion she loves or the theology which serves the new masters. Caught between the old world and the new, Margaret Pole has to find her own way as she carries the knowledge of an old curse on all the Tudors." " ISBN:2147483647 Author:Philippa Gregory

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

Books, Fiction and Non Fiction
KShs2,000.00 KShs1,790.00
Mary Shelley began writing Frankenstein when she was only eighteen. At once a Gothic thriller, a passionate romance, and a cautionary tale about the dangers of science, Frankenstein tells the story of committed science student Victor Frankenstein. Obsessed with discovering the cause of generation and life and bestowing animation upon lifeless matter, Frankenstein assembles a human being from stolen body parts but; upon bringing it to life, he recoils in horror at the creature's hideousness. Tormented by isolation and loneliness, the once-innocent creature turns to evil and unleashes a campaign of murderous revenge against his creator, Frankenstein. Frankenstein, an instant bestseller and an important ancestor of both the horror and science fiction genres, not only tells a terrifying story, but also raises profound, disturbing questions about the very nature of life and the place of humankind within the cosmos: What does it mean to be human? What responsibilities do we have to each other? How far can we go in tampering with Nature? In our age, filled with news of organ donation genetic engineering, and bio-terrorism, these questions are more relevant than ever.

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

Books, Fiction and Non Fiction
KShs1,890.00 KShs1,690.00
The first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth. In the first place, that stuff bores me, and in the second place, my parents would have about two hemorrhages apiece if I told anything pretty personal about them." Since his debut in 1951 as The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield has been synonymous with "cynical adolescent." Holden narrates the story of a couple of days in his sixteen-year-old life, just after he's been expelled from prep school, in a slang that sounds edgy even today and keeps this novel on banned book lists. His constant wry observations about what he encounters, from teachers to phonies (the two of course are not mutually exclusive) capture the essence of the eternal teenage experience of alienation."
